MICKY DOLENZ & JOYCE DEWITT IN 'COMEDY IS HARD'

Image
**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER Story By: G. H. HARDING **** Joyce DeWitt And Micky Dolenz Opening HARD COMEDY WITH DOLENZ --- There’s a time honored tradition in theater-speak of trying the show out on the road; mostly trying it outside of New York, where one dreadful review, from one dreadful critic, could close it on opening night. Theaters like the Goodspeed in Connecticut and the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, are two such examples, where new plays get a proper jump start and some even make the leap to Broadway. Friday, I journeyed to Ivoryton, Connecticut, to see the premiere of a new play, Comedy Is Hard, starring Monkee-Micky Dolenz with Joyce DeWitt (Three’s Company) and we just adored it. Penned by Simpsons-writer Mike Reiss, the two-act play is chock full of current facts and references and, spot-on funny, poignant and bittersweet. Dolenz (Lou) and Dewitt (Kay) play two inhabitants of an assisted living facility for show busines

'ONCE UPON A DREAM' CARNEGIE HALL OCT DEBUT

Image
Once Upon A Dream “You’re never too old and it’s never too late.” That’s the message in the music of Judith Whitmore, Billy Grubman, Lynn O’Hearn Wagner and Frances Young Bennett, a vocal group from Southern California who will present their debut concert at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City on October 12, 2014. The concert, Once Upon A Dream, will feature solo and group performances of Broadway melody favorites by Gershwin, Porter, and Sondheim and will benefit the Dream Street Foundation, which provides camping programs for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Sharing a passion for singing since childhood, the group agrees the road to Carnegie Hall has been a worthwhile yet uphill climb. Even for Frances, the group’s only professional singer who the Los Angeles Times hailed “a soprano of sheer purity,” performing on stage at the legendary concert hall was a distant dream. “I was just doing the only thing I knew how to do,” Fr

THE JERSEY DEVIL PREMIERE'S AT LOEWS LANDMARK

Image
**** This Is The Funniest Independent Film Of The Year! --James Edstrom **** Tom Murro With David Chokachi And Keith Collins The Jersey Devil, a new comedy film directed by Joseph Pepitone, had its World Premiere at the Landmark Loews Theater in Jersey City Wednesday night and there were moments when I thought the legendary old theater wouldn’t be able to withstand the thunderous applause and riotous laughter. I literally thought the house was going to be brought down! This is the funniest independent film of the year! Written by Pepitone, along with his brother Billy, the script is brilliantly paced, building all the way to an uproarious ending that had the crowd, with included Jersey City political powerhouses, praising the film afterwards. Lucifer, played excellently by Jack Mulcahy (who seems to be having a devilish good time in the role) is forced to leave the throne of evil due to his term ending. Enter James Burnett, (Keith Collins) who not

ADAM LAMBERT'S BIG REPUTATION FOR FAN LOYALITY

**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER Story By: G. H. HARDING **** Neil Young YOUNG’S STORY --- Neil Young will release another album in November, called Storeytone, his second for 2014. Young previewed new songs on his recent European tour and a staple of the tour was “Who’s Gonna Stand Up?” in his encore. The song is the lead track from the album and released in three versions, Live with Crazy Horse, orchestral and solo acoustic. “I'd like to make a record with a full-blown orchestra, live — a mono recording with one microphone. I want to do something like that where we really record what happened, with one point of view and the musicians moved closer and farther away, the way it was done in the past. To me that’s a challenge and it’s a sound that’s unbelievable, and you can't get it any other way,” Neil told Billboard in March. Storeytone will be Young’s 35th album not including his live albums and archives, Crosby Stills Nash & Young,

Nick Carter Newlyweds Nick Carter and Lauren Kitt Carter sit down with Larry King to discuss their new reality show “I Heart Nick Carter” on VH1 and how they felt something special from their very first date. Plus, we learn the good and bad about marrying a celebrity, Nick’s rough past and his similarities to Justin Bieber & his ‘rival’ Justin Timberlake on the latest episode of the Emmy nominated series “ Larry King Now ”. Nick and Larry chatted about what happened when the boy band craze slowed down and Nick had some personal time to try and better himself, "I personally went through those same things that Bieber's going through right now, except it didn't have social media to expose it to the degree that it is right now." The former backstreet boy told Larry that his wife, Lauren, was his rock through his drinking problem, "It was difficult for me to find someone who related to the things I had gone through. [...] I'm deep and I'

JOAN RIVERS ASKED KIM CATTRALL TO USE CONDOMS

Image
Kim Cattrall On the surface, "Sex and the City" and "Girls" might seem like they're cut from the same cloth; both of the HBO shows feature four women in New York City navigating careers and relationships. But the similarities really end there, as Kim Cattrall reminded us in a HuffPost Live interview today. Cattrall: "['Girls'] is a different story than 'Sex and the City.' It's not as fantastical. But we live in different times. [The recession of] 2008 was a real big game-changer for everybody, and I look at that show, and it represents what young women today are dealing with... I think ['Girls'] is a fantastic show. I really, really enjoy it. I think it's beautifully acted and realized and written." View Clip HERE . Cattrall also got to relive an appearance on "The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers" which took place during her "Mannequin" press tour. "You

WILLIAM SHATNER & LEONARD NIMOY IN STAR TREK

Image
**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER Story By: G. H. HARDING **** William Shatner STAR TREK BOYS RE-UNITED --- Leonard Nimoy has made cameos in 2009's Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, and now there is a better-than-average chance that he and William Shatner will be reunited in Roberto Orci's Star Trek 3. When Star Trek was rebooted by J.J. Abrams in 2009 they brought back Nimoy to have a pivotal cameo. Nimoy wasn't the only original cast member to be offered a cameo, as William Shatner was originally included but they nixed that idea before filming. According to Badass Digest, it sounds like the original James T. Kirk will finally be included in the rebooted universe. We’ve learned that the script for Star Trek 3 includes a scene that re teams Shatner and Nimoy onscreen as Kirk and Spock for the first time in canon since 1991's Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. It would be a pretty huge moment for fans of the franchise, and likely th
