E! NEWS CATCHES RYAN GOSLING @ CINEMACON

Image
Ryan Gosling E! NEWS -- Gosling jetted into Las Vegas for CinemaCon to promote Blade Runner 2049, the much anticipated sequel to Ford's 1982 classic Blade Runner. Ford reprises his iconic role of Rick Deckard while Gosling plays a mysterious LAPD officer. E! News asked Gosling what was more nerve-racking—making a musical or shooting his first scene with Ford? "I think the latter," Gosling said. "[Ford] is just the best as a guy, as an actor in every way. He's such a part of my childhood and he was so great how he showed up to set, just rolled up his sleeves and got to work. He was the best partner, collaborator you could have. "They created such a legacy with this film," he continued. "Time has proven its specialness. So obviously we wanted to do right by him and by the original." And then there was the time Ford accidentally punched Gosling in the face during a fight scene. "Or I leaned into it,"

JERROLD NADLER: PRESIDENT'S BUDGET IS ABSURD

Image
**** CONGRESS AT WORK **** Jerrold Nadler Jerrold Nadler Speaks -- Several weeks ago, the White House released the president’s budget, a document outlining the administration’s spending priorities for our nation. As many of us expected, it was absurd; full of disastrous cuts that will harm everyday Americans. But I cannot say that I am surprised, the budget simply reflected the policies and priorities the Administration has been advocating for since Day 1. As an example of what I believe are some of the president's proposed draconian cuts, the budget eliminates Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), which help families stay in safe, affordable housing and supports programs such as Meals on Wheels, which provides food to the sick and elderly. The budget also cuts funding for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which works to ensure we have clean air to breathe and water to drink. Furthermore, the budget ramps-up military spending in a sho

THE EXTENDED MAX'S KANSAS CITY 1976 & BEYOND

Image
Max's Kansas City CD Cover Photo Max's Kansas City is the legendary New York City nightclub that became the focal point for the city's hip artistic community from the late 60's until the early 80's. In its initial period, it was famously often populated by Andy Warhol's Factory crowd, and played host to new artists such as the Velvet Underground, New York Dolls, the Stooges, Bruce Springsteen and countless others. It became a base for jet-setters, glam rockers and celebs, until the scene faded and it shut its doors at the end of 1974. Reopened in 1975 under new management, Peter Crowley was hired as music director. The new young bands he booked helped spawn, in tandem with CBGBs, the New York City punk scene. In 1976 Peter compiled a studio album of acts associated with the club, Max's Kansas City 1976, to help promote the club. It featured the first released recordings of Suicide, The Fast and Warhol-era veteran Wayne County, whose ti
