Flo Anthony Memorial Program   Helen Shelton NEW YORK, September 2026 – More than 75 loved ones of Florence “Flo” Anthony gathered in Harlem at iconic soul food restaurant Sylvia’s to celebrate the life and times of the multi-hyphenate dynamo. The memorial celebration, Fabulously Flo, was organized by long-time friends of Flo’s Helen Shelton, Angelo Ellerbee and Roz Nixon.  NBA greats Johnny Newman, Charles Oakley and Patrick Ewing were lead sponsors of the event, with Newman also serving as event host. Members of Flo’s beloved sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, came out in force. Sweet Transvestite Sung By Tim Curry   Tim Curry passed away at his Los Angeles home in Toluca Lake.  He was 80.  Tim was an iconic The English actor and singer was renowned for his legendary talent for playing flamboyant eccentrics and fun villains, he became a cult figure mainly for his role playing the sweet transvestite in The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1975.  He has a legacy defined by his immense contribution to the arts.  I used to photograph him many times in and around Broadway. He was always smiling, happy and fun. For a while he was our personal cult figure in and around New York City.  Susan Sarandon led the Hollywood honors, sharing that "what I loved about him most was his heart," and remembering him as a deeply generous co-star.    

  Dolly Parton Very sad. I remember following Julie Roberts to Industrial studio on West Side Highway. We waited for the garage to open so Julia Roberts could come out and we could get shots. When the garage opened and a limo came out we thought it was Roberts, we chased it down west side highway and it stopped on the side of the road and the doors opened and it was Dolly. She came out and said, You want me so bad, here I am. She posed for photos right there on the side of the road.  I did many photo shoots with Dolly Parton over the years, but I think the best was at CBS studios for the Joan Rivers Show. I sat in the green room with Dolly and man did she have stories to tell. The woman was a legend and the sweetest person you could ever meet and talk too. Her publicist back then was Ed Callaghan who was Irish and loved his cocktails. We all loved Ed Callaghan because when he called you to photograph one of his clients, you knew it was cocktails and a party.  But meeting Rosie back then, she was starting out her career too. From day one she was funny and such a nice person to talk too. I was always around no matter what publicist handled her, she went from comedy clubs and then because huge in so many Broadway shows.   Jean Shafiroff With Flo Anthony Michael Spinks And Flo Anthony Spinks Veteran entertainment insider Flo Anthony has passed away from cancer late on Wednesday August 5th. She was 74.  Flo and I go back many many years. In the 80's and 90's I used to give her many items when she was with NY Post Page Six. We used to do many Television shows together Including the Joan Rivers Show at CBS Studios in NYC. Flo was the on air gossip queen and I was the set photographer.   Flo became the first woman to work in the sports department of the New York Post and this skyrocketed her to New York's famous Page Six. Flo made history as the first African American woman to write a column for a supermarket tabloid, writing the gossip column  “Eye on the Stars” for the National Examiner.   Over the years we both did many TV shows together, Flo was the celebrity expert and I was always brought in to talk about my adventures with one celebrity or another.   Later...
