INDEPENDENT FILM SNAPSHOT GIVES SOCIAL MESSAGE

Image
**** INDIES **** Joyce DeWitt Zach McGowan Snapshot is an independent film with a timely social message and an unexpected ending worth the wait. An edgy opening introduces us to Thomas Grady (Zach McGowan - "Shameless" “Black Sails”) the story’s central character; a paparazzo. Grady was pushed out of the business with a death threat after he crossed the line, yet finds himself in a position to catch a revealing photo of the First Lady (Joyce DeWitt - "Three's Company"). Of course The President (Michael Pare -"Eddie and the Cruisers", “Lincoln Lawyer”) wants to get the photo back before it enters the public domain. The drama unfolds as Thomas Grady struggles to make a decision which will end his already strained relationship with his father (Robert Loggia - Academy Award nominee; "Scarface", “Big”, “Independence Day”) and destroy a great relationship with his brother (David Chokachi – “Baywatch” “Witchblade”) while his g

BARACK OBAMA NOT FAZED BY JOHN BOEHNER THREAT

Image
Barack Obama Despite Republican House Speaker John Boehner’s threat this week to sue President Obama over his use of executive orders, the president refused to apologize for his actions during an exclusive interview with ABC News and took the Republican Party to task for what he described as its attempt to interfere with the basic functions of government. “You notice that he didn't specifically say what exactly he was objecting to,” the president said when asked about the suit by ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos during an interview Thursday in Minnesota. “I'm not going to apologize for trying to do something while they're doing nothing,” the president added later. Boehner said Wednesday during the announcement of the lawsuit that the president had “not faithfully executed the laws,” but Obama sharply disagreed during his interview with ABC News. “The suit is a stunt,” he said. As for immigration overhaul, the pr

**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER Story By: G. H. HARDING **** Jenny McCarthy VIEW MINUS TWO --- I can't say I'm surprised, but late last night it was announced that both Sherrie Shepherd and diamond girl Jenny McCarthy would be exiting The View, and possibly co-creator Bill Gedde. When Barbara Walters left the show, announcing her retirement, although she has already filed several new stories yet to be aired; speculation was rife that the entire show would be revamped. Now, with the Shepherd and McCarthy gone, that leaves only Whoopi Goldberg and rumors are flying that the new additions might be of the male kind; which is what we first posited many columns back. Face it, when Walters first borrowed Regis Philbin’s host-chat format for this show, choosing an entire female line-up was kind of, well, a wild-card idea … now, all these years later, a more, shall we say, balanced mix, might do the trick. Also, Rosie O’Donnell might return. Shepherd, I ne

MAJOR NEWS FOR GARY OLDMAN PLAYBOY INTERVIEW

Image
**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER Story By: G.H. Harding **** Gary Oldman OLDMAN OUT --- Actor Gary Oldman’s interview in the new Playboy has become major news on the West Coast, firstly for its charges from the ADL that he had propagated anti-Semitic stereotypes; and, secondly, for its apparent support of Mel Gibson. First and foremost, and let’s be clear here … the quotes have been taken widely out of context … probably by Playboy in truth. These Playboy interviews are always interesting, mostly for the fact that the entire interview process can sometimes takes 10 hours or more and by the end, the subject, be it Oldman or Gibson or John Lennon … the subjects are almost always exhausted and sometimes do say things off the cuff. Hey, it happens! Robert Downey Jr Take it away, Mike Fleming from Deadline Hollywood: “I cherish being part of the Playboy Interview since Robert Downey Jr chose me to interview him 17 years ago and was so honest about his life that h

ANDREW CUOMO COPS OUT ON MEDICAL MARIJUANA

Image
Andrew Cuomo Gov. Andrew Cuomo has just done a huge dis-service to New Yorkers. I like the guy, I like his family, but am very disappointed. The state Senate passed a bill that would limit consumption to edibles, pills, and oils—prohibiting the smoking or sale of actual marijuana plants. Gov. The bill passed the Senate 49 to 10 after state leaders announced a legislative compromise. Everyone bowed down to the drug companies. Having had my own health issues a few years ago, I was prescribed Marinol Pills, which is Marijuana in pill form. They did nothing to help, and they cost over 2 thousand dollars for a month prescription. I am sure by now they are over 3 grand a month. What Gov. Cuomo has done by demanding this compromise, was continue to allow arrest of innocent people and allowed the black market to continue in the Marijuana trade. New York State would have collected billions, once the whole system was in place for a couple of years. New York State w

This amazing show was filmed in high definition and will be simultaneously released on Blu-ray and DVD. Million Dollar Piano is packed with John classics including: “I’m Still Standing,” “Rocket Man,” “Philadelphia Freedom,” “Your Song,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Circle Of Life,” “Blue Eyes,” “Bennie And The Jets,” “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me,” “Crocodile Rock,” “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues,” and many more.  Also included is the track “Indian Sunset,” (from John's brilliant 1971 Madman Across The Water album) performed by John with percussionist Ray Cooper. Cooper, who did the so-called two-man show with John in Russia all those years ago, is stand-out spectacular. It is, without a doubt, a major highlight in the package. The Million Dolla

WILLIAM DEVANE ON FIRE IN FOX 24 LIVE ANOTHER DAY

Image
**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER Story By: G. H. HARDING **** William Devane DEVANE ON FRICKIN’ FIRE --- Actor William Devane (Gregory Sumner on Knots Landing) delivered what I would immediately call one of the best performances ever on TV, this past Monday night on Fox’s 24: Live Another Day. Devane was again portraying William Heller, now President, and on the edge of making a life-changing move for the greater good. Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) was terrific as always and had always had issues with Heller, initially turned down the idea, but as always followed the wishes of his boss. Their work together on this show was flawless. Devane’s moments with his daughter Audrey were truly moving and as they neared their final destination, Jack and Heller in a chopper, no words were necessary. The two sat in silence but communicated so much emotion. Truly chilling. I have to give the writers of the show a heads-up in choosing not to portray the leader of the free
