SAMUEL WAXMAN CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATION COLLABORATION

Seven research grants were funded to study the links between aging and cancer from the Partnership for Aging and Cancer Research Program, a research collaboration between the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF), National Cancer Institute (NCI) and National Institute on Aging (NIA). The Partnership launched in 2018 as a two-year pilot to fund cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary research that will focus on why aging is a leading risk factor for getting cancer.
This partnership model pairs investigators who study cancer with investigators who study aging. An independent panel of scientists, a scientific review group, organized by the NCI reviewed all research proposals and the recommended applications were reviewed by the National Cancer Advisory Board. The NIH then selected the seven grants.

The 25th Annual Pioneer Hadassah Woman of the Year Luncheon and Fashion Show was held recently at the newly renovated Oceanbleu in the Bath & Tennis Hotel on Dune Road in Westhampton Beach. The 2019 Woman of the Year award was presented to popular philanthropist, Gloria Kaylie. The event was sold out.
Michael Kors Collection did the fashion show, which was narrated by Pioneer’s 2018 Woman of the Year, Jean Shafiroff. Jean also modeled a Michael Kors Collection dress.

The day was a busy one, with boutiques, silent auction, raffles, goodie bags, a photo booth, a cocktail hour, a sumptuous 3-course lunch catered by Regal Caterers, awards, presentations about Hadassah, and the Michael Kors Collection fashion show. Overall chairs were Linda Stoll Pearlman and Elisa Greenbaum, who surprised her husband Clint Greenbaum with the Adelson Service Award.

The Southampton Hospital Foundation celebrates Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s 40-year relationship with the Hampton Classic Horse Show and congratulates all the winners from the youngest to the most accomplished including the father-daughter duo Mario Deslauriers of Canada and Lucy Deslauriers of Manhattan who took first and second place in the Grand Prix challenge in Bridgehampton on Sunday.
In over 40 years, The Hampton Classic has contributed more than $2 million to the hospital.
