MAD MEN'S MATTHEW WEINER ON FAME & SUCCESS

Image
**** THE SATURDAY EVENING POST INTERVIEW **** Matthew Weiner Matt Weiner knows how to appreciate success. He dealt with rejection for years as a struggling writer until he got his big break writing for “The Sopranos.” Along the way he began writing the pilot for the show that made his career, “Mad Men.” Just in time for the season premiere on Sunday, April 7, The Saturday Evening Post contributor Jeanne Wolfe sits down with Weiner to discuss his fame, inspirations, and the rise of “Mad Men.” The complete interview is available at HERE . On Weiner’s notorious secrecy about the “Mad Men” plot: “I’m not trying to tease people. I just don’t want to give away to viewers what’s coming because not knowing what is going to happen is part of what keeps people interested. At the beginning of a season I’m always like, ‘I’m starting a whole new story. If you don’t like it, then it’s not for you. But it’s not because it’s not as good as last year. It’s just diff

HISTORY CHANNEL'S RECORD BREAKING THE BIBLE

Image
**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER By G.H. Harding  **** Mark Burnett Roma Downey HOT JESUS --- Tonight concludes the record breaking miniseries of the History Channel's, The Bible. Produced by reality-show kingpin Mark Burnett, and wife, Roma Downey, it updates perhaps the greatest story ever told. Some 12 million viewers watched the first two Sunday episodes, immediately setting a significant cable-TV record for the channel and provoking a dialogue unlike most other cable-minis series produce. Many of the theories put forth commented on the fact that Burnett/Downey had commissioned original contemporary music produced for the epic series, thus giving it a modern feel. A commentary in the Dessert News produced the quote: "Faith-based programming is entirely absent from network television, and movies that don’t treat religious people as hypocrites or human punch lines seem to rarely make their way into the local cinema.” The actor who portrays Jesus, Diego Me

**** CONCERTS **** Taylor Swift Ed Sheeran And Alana Galloway Ed Sheeran opened for Taylor Swift, performing for over 13,000 screaming fans at New Jersey's Prudential Center. The 22-year-old British sensation brought his 'A Game' to the concert. He opened with 'Give Me Love' and proceeded to sing several other songs including 'A Team', 'Drunk', and 'Lego House'. Ed Sheeran and his guitar captivated the crowd of shrieking fans. Sheeran and Swift performed Taylor's hit duet 'Everything Has Changed' up close to the audience. We were grateful to meet Ed. He's very sincere, humble and has a great sense of humor. After seeing the concert, I can honestly say I understand why Taylor's Red album has sold 1 million copies. Having witnessed Swift in concert before, I can say that she has grown tremendously as a performer. She spared nothing and satisfied the audience song after song with style and g
