CLOSING FOR 'A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE'

 Daphne Rubin-Vega The Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, produced by Front Row Productions (Stephen C. Byrd and Alia M. Jones-Harvey), closed the other day. The cast had a celebration to mark the final performance. The show closed to a very strong box office, $616,897 for the week, per Variety. Directed by Emily Mann, Streetcar is set against the sexy backdrop of New Orleans' gritty French Quarter. The play tells the tale of former school teacher and socialite Blanche DuBois (Nicole Ari Parker), as she's forced to move in with her sister Stella (Daphne Rubin-Vega) and her animalistic husband Stanley (Blair Underwood). But the fragile, Blanche quickly gets a gritty life lesson in the seamy, steamy underbelly of 1950s New Orleans. The show also stars Wood Harris as Mitch. **** LEGENDS IN PHOTOGRAPHY ****   Marlene Dietrich by Cornel Lucas, 1948 A retrospective exhibition of work by legendary, British photographer Cornel Lucas will be held at the Fiorentini + Baker store and show room in New York City. The extensive show will feature both modern and original vintage prints of some of the world's most celebrated film stars - spanning nearly 5 decades. This is the very first time the British photographer, who will be celebrating his 92nd birthday as the exhibition opens, will have his iconic work displayed in New York. During his seventy-year career Lucas has photographed some of the world's greatest film stars both at Pinewood Studios, in London and on film locations all over the world.
