Rita Rudner

Rita Rudner was welcomed to her new home as the newest headliner at The Venetian in grandiose style today, complete with a red carpet arrival covered with pink rose petals.

Wearing a red Valentino dress and pink and purple fur coat, Rita emerged from her limo to a delightful scene of singing gondoliers, Streetmosphere performers and cheering onlookers. Rita jumped on the bell cart with her bags in tow and was wheeled onto the red carpet and into the lobby for more surprises.

A butler waited with a glass of champagne while James Beard Award Winning Chef Luciano Pelligrini from Valentino and Executive Chefs Mark Hopper from Bouchon and Juan Pentes and Daniel Marquez from Taqueria CaƱonita had delicious bites for her to taste, including pink cookies to which Rita exclaimed, “Pink is my favorite color!” A spa attendant from Canyon Ranch Spa Club was on hand to provide a hot towel for Rita to freshen up with.

“Jersey Boys” cast members Peter Saide (“Bob Gaudio”) and Jeff Leibow (“Nick Massi”), as well as Kristi Holden (“Christine Daae”) from “Phantom – The Las Vegas Spectacular,” greeted Rita to welcome her into the family of world-class entertainment The Venetian offers.

Rita hammed it up for the cameras, tucking a napkin into her couture dress so she could enjoy the food and even waded into the fountain in the lobby.

“I’m so happy to be here at The Venetian. I have beautiful smelling roses, I have pink cookies, I have champagne, and it’s not even 10 a.m. yet,” Rita said. “What a great start to my day and a fabulous welcome to The Venetian!”

Rita begins her residency in the 742-seat Venetian Showroom on Saturday, Jan. 15. Show times are at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
