KRISTEN JOHNSTON STARS IN 'UNDERSTUDY'
Actress Kristen Johnston and her dog, Pinky, a seven-year-old pit bull mix, stroll out of the '62 Center for Theater and Dance after performing as Roxanne in Theresa Rebeck's new play "The Understudy" at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Williamstown, MA yesterday. Kristen was also recently in the news for her astonishing weight loss (60 pounds) after suffering a burst ulcer that left her in the hospital for weeks after leaving the TV series "3rd Rock from the Sun." Summer stock theater at Williamstown has drawn the finest actors in the country, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Blythe Danner, and Christopher Reeve. The Understudy Synopsis: Jake, uncrowned action star of tomorrow, has joined Bruce, the “die-hard” box office champ, in a just-unearthed Kafka play—and it’s a hit. But when Harry, the understudy, shows up for rehearsal, what began as theater starts to seem an awful lot like reality in ways Kafka would find all-too-familiar. A mischievous new comedy by the author of Bad Dates, The Scene, and Broadway’s Mauritius. The play runs through August 3, 2008.
