Rock legends The Rolling Stones attempted to persuade director Martin Scorsese to film their historic 2006 free concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but the movie maker wasn’t interested.The famed director was the man behind the camera for the Stones’ new concert film Shine A Light, but he had no desire to shoot the group performing for almost a million people on Copacabana Beach. Icon Mick Jagger recalls, "I asked Martin if he’d like to shoot that concert, because I thought that concert was going to look amazing."He came in and we pitched him the idea and he didn’t like it. He said, ‘My real talent is to do intimacy.’"

MICK JAGGER NOT VERY HAPPY WITH WOOD

Rock icon Mick Jagger was upset that Rolling Stone band mate Ronnie Wood didn’t offer him the chance to read his autobiography before it was published. Wood’s memoirs, Ronnie, documents Wood’s hell raising life, and includes fiery anecdotes involving his Rolling Stones colleagues, but he didn’t let any of them read the book until after it was released. And Jagger would have liked the chance to have read the book before it hit the book stores in October last year. He says, "I haven’t read it, though he very kindly gave it to me, inscribed, for Christmas. In fact, someone else did, too, so I’ve got two copies now."To be truthful, I did not receive any advance manuscripts from Ronnie. I think it’s always polite to do that though." Fellow Stones star Keith Richards has already taken aim at Wood’s tome, claiming that only 50 per cent of the anecdotes are true.

Rolling Stones star Mick Jagger and his girlfriend L’Wren Scott have lost a battle with their neighbours over the redevelopment of their Grade II listed 17th century mansion.The Rolling Stone planned to chop down four magnolia trees at the $20 million (£10 million) estate to make way for a subterranean 28 foot by 12 foot swimming pool.But the proposals infuriated the neighbours of the property in Chelsea, West London who bombarded the council with letters of protest and a petition and Jagger has been forced to relocate the pool to another site in the garden. Jagger hired a team of designers and architects to make the down-at-heel property suitable for a millionaire rock star complete with His and Her dressing rooms, a massive wine cellar and spacious staff accommodation.

Film director Julien Temple, revealed how the ageing rocker attempted to use the ancient Amazonian marriage ritual while filming scenes for 1982 movie 'Fitzcarraldo'. Luckman - author of 'Alien Rock: The Rock 'n' Roll Extraterrestrial Connection' - says The Rolling Stones rocker developed an interest in extraterrestrial phenomena after a close encounter of the third kind in the 60s. Luckman told BANG Showbiz: "Mick Jagger has been very involved with the subject of UFOs for many years."In 1968 he went camping in Glastonbury with his then girlfriend, singer Marianne Faithful, and encountered a rare, luminous cigar-shaped mothership."Around the same time Mick had a UFO detector installed at his British estate. Interestingly, this all happened less than a year before he was assassinated."

The legendary director paid Amy Irving $100 million - half of his fortune at the time - when they divorced after four years of marriage in 1989. Spielberg, who is now worth $3 billion, was beaten to the top spot by basketball legend Michael Jordan.The pending divorce between Jordan and his wife Juanita, who have been married for 18 years, is set to be the most expensive celebrity divorce ever. Jordan earned an estimated $350 million during their marriage, and Juanita stands to receive more than $150 million. Neil Diamond, in second place, married TV production assistant Marcia Murphey in 1969, before he released his first gold record 'Touching You,Touching Me'. During a live web cast announcing the band's forthcoming European tour, Mick said: "The set is amazing. It's really quite beautiful."Keith has been claiming he came up with most of the ideas for it."That's a good one! I think he's been telling porky pies (British slang for lies)."The legendary rockers will play more than 20 shows across Europe, kicking off in Belgium in June and finishing in London on August 21. JADE JAGGER GETS DRUNK ON PLANE

Mick Jagger's daughter Jade proves she has her dad's rock 'n' roll rebellious spirit -- she caused a stir on a recent first-class flight after getting drunk. Jade, 35, was traveling on a first-class flight from London to New York with her two pals when their wild antics got too much for fellow passengers. A passenger on the same flight as Jagger says, "They got drunk and loud and were falling down aisles, climbing over seats, pointing at people and talking about them loudly." Jade's spokesperson says she only drank alcohol to calm her nerves as she is scared of flying, adding, "She didn't realize her talking and laughing would cause offense, and regrets any disruption." A spokesperson for the airline company Virgin says, "At no point was there any threat to the safety of the passengers or crew."
