Holiday Inn Express Long Island

It has recently come to our attention that more and more people in the metropolitan region are opting to have "staycations" this holiday season - that is, vacations during which you stay at a hotel, sleep in, and raid the mini-bar without leaving your hometown. Hotelier John Tsunis of the Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook report that a large percentage of its guests actually live on Long Island. We blame the economy - people still want to cut corners in any way they can - and the new TSA regulations that have everyone hesitant to fly.

Luckily, there are plenty of hotels in the New York metro area that offer the comfort and services to make you feel pampered and relaxed without having to travel far. Hotel owners like John Tsunis are smart to offer amenities and host events that not only appeal to tourists but locals as well. For example, the Holiday Inn Express boasts an art gallery in its lobby (as previously reported by Times Square Gossip) and allows Long Island residents to use its athletic facilities (like tennis and volleyball courts, a baseball field and indoor swimming pool) for a marginal fee. It also hosts events year-round that appeal to locals, like business networking receptions and even a pet costume contest. All of these are excellent ways for people to think of the Holiday Inn Express the next time they're looking to get away... without having to leave town.
