Chaunce Hayden: You've had so much success. But is there one disappointment that sticks with you to this day?

Llaura Vandervoort: Ummm… There's been a lot. Every year there are roles that I go out for that I didn't get and it makes me cry.

Chaunce Hayden: Why?

Llaura Vandervoort: Because it was something so different and it would have really allowed me to prove myself. But movies tend to go for the bigger names. So until you get to that point it's a struggle. Yeah, there's been a lot. There was a Robert Redford movie that I would have loved to have done. There was a werewolf movie I didn't get. Lots of stuff. I actually even auditioned for “Avatar.” That would have been pretty cool. I think you have to be slightly off kilter to be in this business. Taking psychology definitely helps. That's why I took it. It's a tough business and one of my biggest problems is that I don't have a thick skin. I take everything personally. Lots of tears over auditions that didn't go my way. I'm not an actor who just moves on. I can't let things go. I prepare so much that I can't let it go afterwards. That's the tough part. It really breaks you down. Especially when you're a female in Los Angeles. If you don't have certain attributes for certain roles, it doesn't matter how good an actress you are. So you have to learn to toughen up. Unfortunately I haven't learned that yet and I don't know if I ever will.
