TONY ROBERTS GETS ILL ON BROADWAY STAGE

Tony Roberts

The hit Broadway show 'The Royal Family' was cut short Sunday when stage and screen star Tony Roberts, began speaking incoherently. Ellen Belson, an audience member, told the New York Times that producers lowered the curtain after the 69-year-old Roberts began "mumbling and talking gibberish" shortly after the show began. "At first I thought it was part of the show," she said. A few moments later, a member of the show asked the audience if there were any doctors in the house. Three came forward. After that, an announcement was made that the show had been canceled. Roberts is in stable condition at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center.
