Gruen Eyes In The Hampton's

For those visiting the New York City area this summer, the top destination is of course…The Hampton's. The area along the end of Long Island, which mixes the charm of a Ralph Lauren-inspired world with the exclusive glamour of the Manhattan social scene. However, even to the most discerning traveler, deciding where to go in the illustrious East End may still seem to be a daunting endeavor. With this heads-up for summer to guide you, the Hampton's will be a walk in the park, or perhaps on the beach.

From only the best at Nello Summertimes in Southampton to the excitement of the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge 2009 at Blue Star Jets Field in Bridgehampton, here is the best of the Hampton's to keep your summer calendars filled.

Southampton Dining:

An evening in Southampton may be spent wining and dining at high-end restaurants that offer second to none service and delicacies; perhaps Nello Summertimes, one of the Hamptons favorite spots for its chic interior, unparalleled cuisine and, of course, countless celebrity sightings. Take a seat on the outdoor patio and be entertained by the A-listers strutting through the door to enjoy this Hamptons hotspot. The younger Hamptons VIP scensters flock to Jean Luc’s Madame Tong’s to enjoy the Asian-inspired cuisine, which excites the palette and satisfies the appetite. The hottest new DJs assemble from the Big Apple to this summer’s retreat to play the best music to the Hamptons crowds.

There is a plethora of choices as to where one may shop in Southampton. Biba Boutique has a reputation as being one of the Hamptons premier fashion boutiques. A favorite of such celebrity shoppers as Christie Brinkley, Paris and Nicky Hilton, Felicity Huffman and Beth Ostrosky, Biba carries all the newest designer collections. Biba promises to provide a one-stop shopping experience, with clothing and accessories from fashion’s ‘best kept secrets’ that will keep you looking summertime chic, from head-to-toe.

East Hampton Shopping:

For the hottest designer eyewear selection, stop by grueneyes, where it is not uncommon to see Hampton VIPs and celebrities trying on a new pair of specialty lenses or this seasons must-have sunglasses. Whatever clients desire, grueneyes provides them with the most up to date styles and technology to protect their baby blues (or browns or greens) from those harmful UV Rays. In preparation of the upcoming Hamptons summer season, grueneyes & Optyx by gruen is planning an exclusive sale on an extensive selection of its high-end designer sunglass collections with prescription and non-prescription lenses. Additionally, the East Hampton location will provide comprehensive optometric services for the first time this summer, perfect for East Enders who choose to extend their weekend getaways to mid-week holidays.

East Hampton Dining:

In 1981 a disheveled crew of surfers, scoundrels and a lone cook turned a hidden corner of an East Hampton parking lot into a meeting place for artists, anglers, bonackers, bankers, weekenders and wayfarers that would one day become The Blue Parrot. Having closed shop in 2006, The Blue Parrot returns to a town eager for its go-to “quirky, laid-back Tex-Mex bar and restaurant.” As the town’s favorite dive bar, meeting place and local joint, The Blue Parrot brings together local residents and summertime visitors, offering a refreshing, casual and pretense-free alternative to New York and East End dining and nightlife.

Sag Harbor Dining:

After a long day at the beach or hitting up the shops, one might venture to the marina at Sag Harbor and stop in to one of renowned restaurateur, Jean Luc’s, chic eateries. JLX Bistro offers wharf patio seating that is second to none for watching sunsets and dining on delectable mussels and other gourmet fare. The wine connoisseur may opt for Jean Luc’s Grappa. This wine bar features hundreds of wines, perfectly paired with delicacies ranging from a delicious raw bar to brick-oven pizzas. Either, Hamptonites know that Jean Luc always delivers on service, taste and fun.

How to get to the Hampton's Fast:

While the East End is known as a luxurious, relaxing summertime getaway for New Yorkers, the commute from the city to the Hamptons is anything but— that is, unless you choose to travel with Blue Star Jets. As a response to the ever-evolving needs of their clients, Blue Star Jets has developed a new alternative for regular summertime helicopter users who commute to the Hamptons – the 25hr Jet Ranger Card – launching this season. With an approximate one-way trip time of a mere forty-five minutes from New York City, the 25hr Jet Ranger Card offers travelers a number of flights at a great value— travelers are not required to cover the costs of repositioning (the price of returning the helicopter back to its point of departure after flyers have landed), rather they are only charged for the time they spend aboard the aircraft. The Card is perfect for travelers, unsure of the number or dates of their upcoming trips out East. The 25hr Jet Ranger Card does not expire and starts at $33,600 (price does not include landing fees). Additionally, packages through the Blue Star Jets Hamptons Heli-Card for those traveling from New York City are also still available (a package of 10 one-way flights starting at $29,120 on a four-passenger Jet Ranger; $31,360 for a six-passenger Jet Long Ranger). To help lower costs further, Blue Star Jets can also arrange for parties traveling on the same days/at the same times to travel together.
