ACCLAIMED 'THREE CALLA LILIES' PREMIERE

Acclaimed Puerto Rican playwright, Abniel Marat will have his play "Three Calla Lilies" – Tres Lirios Cala make it's World premiere (in the English language) as part of the 41st anniversary season at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre (Miriam Colón Valle/ Artistic Director) on Wednesday, April 9th (8PM). The play will have a press opening on April 17th and runs through Sunday, May 4th at the company's home theatre located at 304 West 47th Street--just West of 8th Avenue.In "Three Calla Lilies"- Tres Lirios Cala, the action centers on three Puerto Rican sisters who gather one evening to remember their mother, reconnect with each other, and discover themselves. This contemporary family drama explores the sorrows, hopes, and conflicts that undermine their relationships.Playwright and author, Dr. Abniel Marat is the recipient of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture's National Prize of Dramatic Art honoring four of his plays: Tabu, The Madonna With The Stone Heart, The Stairs of Inferno and The Papisa Juana. In addition to his theater works having been produced throughout Latin America, his books “The Complete Homosexual Poetry” and the soon to be released “Complete Feminist Theater” have met with critical acclaim.Directed by Josean Ortiz and produced by Miriam Colón Valle with an English translation by Charles Philip Thomas, “Three Calla Lilies” will feature: Dalia Davi, Crystal Espinal, Elvira Franco, Gabriela Lugo, Sophia Angelica Nitkin and Susan Rybin.
