**** GASLAND IS A MUST SEE FILM FOR 2015 **** GASLAND When filmmaker Josh Fox received an unexpected offer of $100,000 for the natural gas drilling rights to his property in the Delaware River Basin, on the border of New York and Pennsylvania, he resisted the urge to accept. Instead, he set off on a cross-country journey to investigate the environmental risks of agreeing to the deal. Gasland is Fox's urgent, cautionary and sometimes darkly comic look at the largest domestic natural gas drilling campaign in history, which is currently sweeping the country and promising landowners a quick payoff. However, as Fox discovers, the drilling process, called hydraulic fracturing or fracking, was exempted by the Bush-Cheney Energy Policy Act of 2005 from the United States' most basic environmental regulations, including the Safe Drinking Water Act  and the Clean Air Act. Across the country, in major cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Dallas-Ft. Worth, ...

**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER Story By: G. H. HARDING **** Foxcatcher Official Trailer NEWSROOM GONE --- Last night’s series finale of HBO’s The Newsroom was a fitting end to a show I feel that was cut far too short. Aaron Sorkin’s writing with this one was top notch and much of it revolved around a song, called “That’s How I Got To Memphis” that Will (Jeff Daniels) first heard in Charlie’s office (Charlie Skinner essayed by Sam Waterston; the character that was felled by a heart attacked in last week’s show). At a pivotal point in the show, McAvoy is shown performing the song with Skinner’s grandsons during a post-funeral memorial. Earlier in the show, we were told something about the symbolism of this song, which represents finding yourself; finding the right place; being where you're supposed to be; even if you realize you should have tried to get there sooner. A grand metaphor if you ask me. At that moment, Will McAvoy, who had begun the ser...

**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER Story By: G. H. HARDING **** Liv Tyler JUSTIN TIME --- I watched the eagerly anticipated new HBO show, The Leftovers last night, and was generally enthralled by the show. There was so much pre-hype about it, it'll be interesting to see how the ratings were; which will come later today. Envisioned by Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof, and author Tom Perrotta, who wrote the source book, it’s about the aftermath after 2% of the world’s population mysteriously disappears – Gary Busey, Salaman Rushdie and Shaq included! It’s an interesting premise for sure and though the tone throughout was pretty dire, there were some amazing moments. Justin Theroux is the local Sherriff Kevin Garvey and it turns out that the screwed-up daughter (and, isn't there always one?) is his, and the final-moment revelation that one of the silent-cult-like group followers (Guilty Remnant) who mourn the world’s loss, is his wife, is jarring. The ...

**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER Story By: G. H. Harding **** Larry Kramer Ryan Murphy  A NORMAL HEART --- Ever watch something that just exceeds your expectations on every level? HBO’s A Normal Heart, which premiered this past weekend, was such an exceptional production, that I will go on record right now as saying it’s the best thing I've seen this year. Larry Kramer’s poignant, pounding, play, which first premiered in 1985, created a furor of its own since it denounced everyone from then-NYC Mayor Ed Koch to President Reagan who steadfastly never mentioned the word AIDS. As People magazine said in a great review, “The Normal Heart isn't a period piece or a cautionary tale; it’s a bulletin from the front lines, a heart-stopping report about the terrifying progress of AIDS as it sweeps through and decimates Manhattan’s gay population.” The pacing from director Ryan Murphy is just superb. Though the play was presented at various times, there’s no questio...

**** STARS WITH A HEART ****  Peter Dinklage As fans of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones eagerly await Sunday night’s season finale surprises, the show’s breakout star, Peter Dinklage, is already gearing up for his next challenge: speaking up for farm animals as national spokesperson for Farm Sanctuary’s Walk for Farm Animals. The actor, who has been vegetarian since he was 16, has filmed an exclusive new video (watch it here) to promote this series of fun, community-focused events aimed at changing the way society views and treats farm animals. The Walks will take place in more than 35 North American cities this Fall, as well as virtually. “I love animals and the way they are treated on factory farms is not OK with me,” says Dinklage, who currently graces the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. “Numerous studies have shown that cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and other farm animals possess the same intelligence and capacity for fear, pain, and joy as dogs ...

The final season of 'The Sopranos' kicks off ! Sunday marks the beginning of the end for HBO`s 'The Sopranos,' as the seventh and final season of the New Jersey crime drama kicks off with a bang. 'I`m old, Carm,' says Tony Soprano at the start of the episode. He has recovered from being shot last season, but tells his wife, Carmela, that he feels changed: 'My body has suffered a trauma it will probably never recover from,' The New York Times reported. In the episode, the Sopranos find the police at their door, prompting Carmela to exclaim, 'Is this it?' It isn`t. It`s just a gun-possession charge that Tony`s lawyer easily takes care of in time for the Sopranos to drive to Tony`s sister`s house in upstate New York to celebrate his 47th birthday -- and to handle some business across the Canadian border. With nine episodes left before the series ends, critics say it`s about time. Even before last season the series had started sagging in places, t...
