La Goulue, the chic Parisian bistro that has been an Upper East Side fixture since 1972, will welcome longtime society favorite Alex Donner and his four-piece orchestra for a one-night-only dinner cabaret on Friday, May 15th, 2026 in the restaurant’s private room at 29 East 61st Street.  Following on from an acclaimed performance at La Goulue in Palm Beach, The evening will offer a polished dose of old Manhattan style, courtesy of Alex Donner, pairing La Goulue’s lively French bistro setting with classic standards, party music and an open dance floor.

Alex Donner, a Princeton graduate who left a legal career to pursue music, has long been a fixture of New York and Palm Beach society entertainment. His orchestra has played major balls, galas, private events and charity evenings, while his cabaret work has included appearances at Café Carlyle and the Algonquin in New York. For La Goulue, Donner will appear in a more intimate format, drawing from the Great American Songbook and the kind of dance-floor repertoire that has made him a familiar presence from Manhattan to Palm Beach.

Known for French classics, warm hospitality and a see-and-be-seen dining room, La Goulue remains one of the city’s enduring Upper East Side addresses for those who like their dinner with a little theatre. For one night only, the restaurant will add live music, dancing and a cabaret spirit to the mix, creating an easy, elegant night for regulars, locals and those who still know where to find a bit of old Manhattan after dark.

Doors will open at 7:00pm, with dinner service beginning at 7:30pm, background music from the small band at 8:00pm and the main performance scheduled from 9:15pm to 11:00pm. The evening will feature an $85 prix fixe dinner, with beverages, tax and gratuity not included. There is no cover charge, and reservations are available through La Goulue on Resy. A credit card is required, with an $85 cancellation or no-show fee for cancellations made within 48 hours of the event.
