WHOOPI GOLDBERG TALKS RUSH LIMBAUGH AND 'BARACK THE MAGIC NEGRO'

Image
The View Whoopi Goldberg's view of Donald Trump’s decision to award Rush Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom during his State of the Union address. Whoopi wasn’t impressed by her co-host Meghan McCain’s rationale for why the president would give the controversial talk show host the award. On Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” Goldberg started things off by referencing Limbaugh’s recent announcement that he has advanced lung cancer before admitting she didn’t think he deserved the nation’s highest civilian honor. “You know, I am very sorry that Rush is ill, because you never want to wish bad stuff on people,” Goldberg said. “He has stage 4 cancer. But I’m sorry, I thought that the Medal of Freedom was supposed to go to people who actually did stuff.” Goldberg named a few people she thought were more deserving of the award, including Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), who died last October. “I didn’t understand,” she said. “You’ve got a Tuskegee Airman si...

Image
The View Mondays Hot Topics: McConnell Planning Speedy Trial “These senators are supposed to represent the people," says Sunny Hostin. "Why aren’t they representing the will of the majority of Americans? That’s the first step.” “I would never underestimate Mitch McConnell," adds Meghan McCain. "He's a really shrewd long-term political animal and I think he knows what he's doing.” “I don’t think this is where the pulse of the American people are at and I think that it’s more about the election than it is about the impeachment trial," McCain continues. "I would focus on voting him out.” "Ultimately if the Republicans follow this course, if they are so adverse to the will of the American people, I think that ultimately it will affect the Republicans," Hostin says. "Because when you go to the ballot box are you going to vote for that Senator that did not do your will? Are you going to put that person back into offi...

Image
The View On Send Her Back Hot Topics: Trump claims to disavow "send her back" chant. "The bottom line is he didn't tell them to stop," says Sunny Hostin. "He didn't tell them that it was inappropriate, and I believe that that was something that he gave them permission to say. He normalized it." "One thing that I read that was fascinating was that Lara Trump, his daughter-in-law who is also an adviser to his 2020 election campaign, did a warmup act to cue up the crowd," Hostin adds. "She led them in a call and response chant and she said, 'If you don't love our country, the president said it, you can' and the crowd responded, 'leave'. She ginned it up already." "History is not kind to racists... There is only so much excusing you can do of what Donald Trump has done this week," says guest co-host Ana Navarro. "We have seen the legitimization of racism." "I do thi...
