RYAN CABRERA returns to the pop universe with the release of his highly anticipated EP WAKE UP BEAUTIFUL out today (March 3) via Dynamite Music/Caroline. The five song EP exclusively premiered last Wednesday (2/25) on Billboard.com.
“Making this record was such a different experience than any other record I have made,” the platinum-selling singer, songwriter and musician shared with Billboard.com. “I told myself that I was going to take as much time as needed to make the most honest and great full album from start to finish. It did take a while, but to me, it was worth it to be able to walk away with an eclectic collection of work.”
“House On Fire,” the first single off WAKE UP BEAUTIFUL, garnered praise early on from fans and media. ET Online’s Katie Krause raved “’House On Fire’ is the perfect mix of upbeat organic pop with a splash of indie-synths…the catchy single marks Ryan’s triumphant return to the music scene” (2/2/15). Jenny Lee of Nylon.com wrote, “‘House on Fire’ is undeniably catchy and heavily percussive, with hints of synth that build up excitingly into the chorus. The song is about living in the moment, and the infectious melody readily mirrors the lyrics” (2/2/15), while Lucas Villa of AXS.com noted, “With the usual guitar are hints of electronica that carry the singer-songwriter through upbeat track…Ryan sounds poised to set hearts ablaze once again with this shining and free-spirited anthem” (10/23/14). Popdust.com’s Jason Scott called the track “an arena-sized rock-tinged anthem,” and went on to say, “‘House On Fire’ is a searing undertaking and hoisted by electronic-dance elements and an ear-worm hook, Cabrera is on to something here. Smashing the Hot 100 is automatic, right?” (10/24/14)
RYAN filmed the music video for “House On Fire” with acclaimed director Christian Lamb (Madonna, Borgore, Tori Amos). The video--which features surprise cameos from Efren Ramirez (Napoleon Dynamite), Dennis Haskins (“Saved By The Bell”), Shannon Tweed and Kenny Hamilton--was shot in Los Angeles and up along the picturesque California coast, perfectly capturing the song’s carefree, live-in-the-moment spirit. An extended version of the video was recently unveiled; check it out here.
The Dallas-native is also looking forward to getting out on the road to perform the new music in front of live crowds. RYAN will perform an intimate solo acoustic show on March 10 at San Diego’s House of Blues for their Storytellers series before launching into the co-headlining “Radio Revival Tour” with Secondhand Serenade. The run kicks off March 12 in Sacramento, CA and includes shows in San Francisco and Anaheim before making a stop at The 6th Street and Red River Annex in Austin on March 18 for a daytime performance during the SXSW music festival. CABRERA will then continue on to Atlanta, Orlando, and Greensboro, reaching New York’s Gramercy Theatre on March 31. Other major market shows include Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Grand Rapids, Denver, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, with more dates to be announced.
