Talula’s Restaurant
ASBURY PARK -- Steve Mignogna and Shanti Church, owners of Talula’s restaurant, an artisan eatery and bar offering vibrant, flavorful dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, are getting hitched! And they want their supportive community and customers to join them on their honeymoon! Mignogna and Church, who have been together six years, are marrying next month and have plans to include their passion for Talula’s, their customers and their community in the wedding festivities by holding a limited time pop-up event while they’re away. The restaurant will feature a honeymoon-inspired menu based off of the foods that the newly wed Mignogna’s will be experiencing in Tulum. Tulum is an ancient bohemian city located in the southern area of Riviera Maya known for its indie culture, dense history and booming food scene.

From April 9th-12th, Asbury Park friends can celebrate from afar, noshing on delicious native foods such as: Fire-roasted poblanos stuffed with shrimp or chicken with market vegetables and covered in blistery queso; fire-roasted whole market fish with citrus and bright herbs; and of course plenty of homemade tortillas and salsas. You can sip on delicious tropical cocktails like mezcal, tamarind, limon and agave or one with aged rum, coconut cream, cane syrup, and fresh pineapple. Talula’s kitchen manager, Laura Brahn, will be preparing this special reservation-only dinner menu four evenings while the couple is away. A Yucatán-inspired brunch will also be served on Saturday and Sunday April 11th and 12th.

“We were inspired to visit Tulum by Laura, one of the chefs on our team. Listening to her descriptions of the delicious meals she had in this magical beach town, sold us on Tulum as our honeymoon destination,” said Church. “Talula’s is our heart and home, and a huge part of our lives. It only seemed natural to include our customers and community in the celebration of our wedding. We came up with the concept of a pop up menu while we are on our honeymoon to include our customers in the excitement. We want them to feel involved too!”

“I’m so excited to be marrying Shanti. This whole journey from deciding to quit our jobs in 2011 and go after the dream of opening our own restaurant has been a life-changing experience,” said Mignogna. “I couldn’t have done this without her and definitely not without the support of the community that has embraced Talula’s. They are a part of our extended family, and including them this special time was important to both of us. We hope everyone will come out and enjoy the Tulum cuisine as much as we plan to. It’s going to be delicious!”
