KELSEY GRAMMER TALKS ABOUT ADDICTIONS

Kelsey Grammer says his sex and drug addictions almost killed him.The 'Frasier' star - who was addicted to cocaine, ecstasy, valium and alcohol - is quoted by Britain’s Daily Express newspaper as saying: "I was addicted to danger and dangerous girls, and it took me to things that were very destructive for me. I liked the addictions but I got in too deep. “The minute I got out of work I went home and did a lot of cocaine. It took me to the place where I felt I was at the edge. I liked living there. I was drawn to women who were dramatic, emotional and unpredictable, with great sexual energy. I liked surprises. I liked women who could be demonstrative, demanding and socially unacceptable. "Maybe there is something genetic that drives me to places of danger. I have always been a risk taker. I do have a self-destructive part of me. I probably would have died if I hadn't stopped."The ‘Cheers’ actor, who entered rehab for the first time in 1990 after accepting he had a "self-destructive" streak, has now been sober for 11 years.
Grammer's addictions spiralled out of control after his younger sister Karen was raped and brutally murdered in 1975. He is determined to ensure Karen’s killer spends the rest of his life behind bars.Grammer, 52, said: "There is a hearing later this year about his parole that I will attend. I am angry with him. I never had the opportunity to speak for my sister before. I will now."Her death changed my life forever, it plunged me into an abyss of drug abuse and alcohol abuse. It was probably the catalyst that got me into a really big problem for at least the next 15 years. We were very close. It took me years to forgive myself."
