PARIS HILTON TO LAUNCH JEANS LINE
Paris Hilton is to launch her own range of jeans. The hotel heiress - who recently served 23 days in prison for driving with a suspended licence - flew to San Francisco on Wednesday to meet with executives from Macy's department store to discuss her new denim line. A source said: "The reaction from Macy's was amazing. They'll be on sale as soon as possible."Paris, 26, was thought to be wearing one of her new designs - a pair of dark and skinny jeans with diamante along the outer leg seam - when she left jail last month. Meanwhile, 'The Simple Life' star and her father Rick are said to have upset family friend Barbara Walters by choosing money over loyalty. The co-presenter of ABC's 'The View' was in contact with Paris while she was in jail and expected to get the first exclusive post-prison interview. However, the socialite spoke to Larry King. Barbara said: "I kind of figured I'd get the interview. It turns out there were other considerations."Rick Hilton said to me, 'You know I owe you one, and I'm sorry, but we're going to go with them.' "Yesterday the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department launched an internal investigation into claims Paris was given special treatment in jail.Officials at Lynwood's Century Regional Detention Centre vowed to treat the star like any other prisoner but the department union claims otherwise.Paris reportedly had unlimited access to a cellphone while other prisoners must use pay phones during set hours. The heiress also had her mail hand-delivered to her by the jail captain and was given a brand new jail uniform while many inmates wear recycled ones. Two sheriff's officials have confirmed these details. But Sheriff Lee Baca's spokesman, Steve Whitmore, said: "If there was any special treatment it came from the court's sentence, which was harsher than for other defendants facing similar charges."Analysis of jail data shows Paris ended up serving more jail time than other inmates facing similar charges.
