Hollywood star Richard Gere is canning reports that he’s planning a return to Broadway for a reunion with his An Officer And A Gentleman co-star Debra Winger. The star was in negotiations to replace Bill Pullman onstage in a revival of Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner? but he won’t be playing the role Spencer Tracy made famous on the big screen. A spokesman for Gere says, "He’s not doing it." Winger and Amanda Bynes are reportedly confirmed for the production. But stay tuned kiddies. Just because a publicist denies it means nothing ! Hollywood star and Tibet activist Richard Gere is slamming China for its recent bloody Himalayan protest, and is urging the world to boycott the 2008 Beijing Olympics.The outspoken Pretty Woman star was horrified at the treatment of demonstrators protesting against Chinese rule in Tibet on Friday, where at least 10 people were reported to have been killed.Gere, chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet and a devout Buddhist, insists there "absolutely" should be a worldwide boycott of the sporting event in August to force China to allow the Himalayan region to decide its own future.The 58-year-old star has been barred from visiting China for his support of Tibet, and in 1993 spoke out about the plight of the Himalayan region at the Academy Awards.He says, "In this situation if the Chinese do not act in the proper way, change their ways, acknowledge what is going on, allow free access to communication, then I think that absolutely we have to boycott."It would ...

A court in Jaipur has issued a non bailable arrest warrant against Hollywood actor Richard Gere for "indulging in an obscene act" when he planted kisses on Indian actor Shilpa Shetty during an AIDS function in Delhi. The court, after hearing complainant Poonam Chand Bhandari, and watching the original video recording of the function showing Gere kissing Shilpa, prima facie found him guilty. "The court has asked police to arrest and produce him before the court May 5," advocate Bhandari told IANS here. The court also issued summons to Shilpa Shetty asking her to be present in the court May 5, Bhandari said. The statements of Gere and Shilpa will be recorded on that day. Bhandari had filed a complaint April 14 in the court accusing both the film personalities of committing "an obscene act" in a public place under the Indian Penal Code.Under the IPC the accused are liable for imprisonment for a term extending to three months or fine or both. Kennedy Memorial, a human rights organisation founded in 1968 to continue the legacy of the assassinated US senator.The chance to have lunch with Gere at his as yet unopened New York restaurant is currently going for $13,500, but it has by no means attracted the highest bid.That honor goes to former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan who is offering breakfast or tea with himself and his journalist wife Andrea Mitchell at Washington's Four Seasons hotel.
