**** INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL **** Lionel Richie Emirates celebrated the launch of its daily, nonstop service to Chicago with a gala event at the city's historic Navy Pier on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Emirates Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Adel Al Redha and Chicago Deputy Mayor Steven Koch were joined by more than 500 VIP guests to commemorate the opening of Emirates' ninth U.S. gateway. Guests were greeted by Emirates cabin crew and treated to cold hand towels, traditional dates, Arabic coffee, cocktails and canapés, and music by Chicago's Jazz Couture. Chicago TV personality served as emcee and the event program included performances by Chicago-based violin troupe Ken Arlen's Sirens and award-winning singer-songwriter Lionel Richie.

Former reality show star Nicole Richie is laughing off gossip that she is expecting twins with her boyfriend rocker Joel Madden. Nicole and Joel welcomed daughter Harlow last January and are preparing to become parents for the second time around. They announced the pregnancy last month. Richie has since been slammed with media rumors that she is carrying twins. But the daughter of legend Lionel Richie, is canning twins gossip, telling reporters at a charity event in Los Angeles California on Monday that she is not expecting two children, joking that she "already has twins," referring to her partner and his twin brother, Benji.

Singing legend Lionel Richie went into a panic when the news that his daughter reality show star daughter Nicole was pregnant. The singer believed it would spell an end to his sex appeal. The All Night Long star, at age 59, believed the birth of 14-month old Harlow, fathered by Joel Madden, would signal his sex symbol status was over, once and for all. Yet Richie now admits he enjoys life as a grandfather, albeit at a distance. He tells British tabloid the Daily Record, "I went through a panic - that’s the end of my career. But I’m having more fun now with the responsibility of being a grandpa - that is, playing with the baby and handing her back."

Singing star Lionel Richie has been banned from performing in New York’s Long Island Hamptons after local residents protested about the noise. Party promoter Scott Feldman planned to charge guests $1,250 each to watch Richie sing in the backyard of his rented home in the town of Sag Harbor tonight, reports the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six. But the newspaper claims requests for a permit were turned down after wealthy residents of the town - where rocker Billy Joel also has a home - stepped in. Might be noteworthy to mention, that even know you spend millions on a home there, you need permits to throw a party, you have a time limit, and when the expected end of the party arrives, the police are outside your home telling you to end it and they start ticketing the cars. I have seen this many times.

Lionel Richie Lionel Richie has revealed he didn’t want his daughter Nicole to be a singer.The former Commodores singer, who has sold more than 100 million records in his career so far, admits he was unimpressed when his ‘Simple Life’ star daughter announced she was following in his footsteps. Lionel said: “She has done the fame thing is reverse. Normally you need a hit record or movie to become a personality. She started as a personality and now she understands what I go through.“When she decided to take up music I thought, ‘Urgh, she moving into singing’. I keep telling her, ‘why would you want to go singing?’ It’s funny when they choose the same occupation as you.”Nicole recently starred in her father’s video for his song ‘I Call It Love’, as a rich girl who falls for a poor waiter.
