TV Land’s newest original sitcom, “Kirstie,” starring Kirstie Alley, premieres in an extra special way on Wednesday, December 4th at 10pm ET/PT with TWO episodes. 'KRISTIE'S NEW SHOW' PICKED UP AT TV LAND

The sitcom reunites the actress with longtime friend and former “Cheers” co-star Rhea Perlman and pairs them with famed “Seinfeld” actor Michael Richards, both of whom have won multiple Emmy® Awards as well. “Kirstie’s New Show” also stars Eric Petersen (“Shrek: The Musical”) and will premiere in Fall 2013 with 12 episodes. Perlman will play Thelma, Maddie’s (Alley) long-suffering assistant and best friend, who encourages her boss to form a relationship with the son she gave up for adoption, Arlo (previously known as “Owen”). Jones, president of TV Land. The comedy will star Kirstie Alley in the lead role of Madison “Maddie” Banks, a Broadway star who finds her life turned upside down when Owen, the son she gave up for adoption 26 years ago, turns up looking to connect after his adopted mother has died. However, Maddie doesn’t exactly see nerdy and schlubby Owen fitting in with her luxurious lifestyle. When her attempt to change Owen backfires, Maddie finds that perhaps they both could use a little change in their lives.

Cheers star Kirstie Alley has announced her plans to launch her own diet firm, just days after resigning as the spokeswoman for the Jenny Craig diet plan. The Hollywood actress insists she had an "extraordinary" and "first rate" experience with the diet company, hopes to launch her new venture next year. Alley tells People.com, "After lengthy negotiations, regretfully, the Jenny Craig Company and I did not come to an agreement to continue as their spokesperson. ... "Somehow, I've also fallen into the position of 'accidental' role model for, apparently, millions of people out there losing weight by whatever means. KIRSTIE ALLEY DEFENDS TOM CRUISE VIDEO

Former Hollywood television star Kirstie Alley is defending fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise following criticism the movie star received for raving about the controversial religion in a promotional video. Footage leaked online showed Cruise talking about Scientology, calling the religion "a blast" and then saluting a portrait of church founder, sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard.The video was never meant to be seen by the public and Alley insists the criticism over Cruise’s comments prove why church elders were keen to use the footage for promotional purposes only. She says, "Tom was using words meant for a Scientology audience. On the web, the video is take out of context."It’s like a rabbi addressing a Christian church, speaking in Hebrew. No one would understand him."

KIRSTIE ALLEY TO STAR IN NEW SITCOM

Kirstie Alley is set to star in a US version of hit British comedy 'The Vicar of Dibley'.The former 'Cheers' actress, 56, will star in 'The Minister of Divine' as a preacher who returns to the small town where she was once a teenage rebel. Fox TV will make a pilot episode of the new comedy, co-produced by 'Vicar' creator Richard Curtis, before deciding whether to go ahead with a complete series. British comedienne Dawn French has played the lead role in 'The Vicar of Dibley' since it began in 1994. Since 'Cheers' ended in 1993, Kirstie has had roles in several comedy sitcoms including 'Veronica's Closet' and 'Fat Actress', which mocked her real-life battle with obesity.
