Joan Jett The Long Beach International Film Festival (LBIFF), produced by the Long Beach Film Institute, 501(c)3, has been supported, since its inception four years ago, by Long Beach resident Joan Jett. On April 18th, as Joan Jett is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the LBIFF is excited to announce that they will be establishing a music film series in her honor. The Joan Jett Music Film Series will join the 4th annual LBIFF this September. Joan has been there in support of the festival since its inception, through hurricane Sandy, and beyond. Joan's accomplishments and her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are legendary, and an example to all, most importantly, empowering women. As a local resident of Long Beach, with success and ties within the film and music industry, LBIFF feel that Joan portrays the perfect example of determination, talent, vision, compassion and success that they hope to bestow upon our film community. ...

HARDING **** Joan Jett CLASS OF 2015 --- Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Lou Reed, Green Day and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band have all been elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2015. Beatles drummer Ringo Starr will also be honored as the recipient of the hall’s Award for Musical Excellence. Starr was already inducted to the hall as a member of the Fab Four back in 1988. His bandmates have each been previously inducted for their solo careers — John Lennon in 1994, Paul McCartney in 1999, and George Harrison in 2004. Colleague Roger Freidman (Showbiz 411) posited that the Hall of Fame (with crazy-man Jann Wenner at the helm) probably is giving Starr the award in the hopes of having mate Paul McCartney show up and perform, He’s most likely right! I actually think the high point was Shakira, of all people, single The Pretenders “I’ll Stand By You.” I remember when the artist was first launched on these shore many years ago, and the PR-person handling the campaign made the move to immediately compare her to Madonna. Sure, they were both blond even back even back then, but Shakira possessed a more deeply felt emotion even back then. “Hips Don't Lie” and “She Wolf” were massive hits, but she really delivered on this one … very emotional and very deeply felt. Rock icon Joan Jett has filed a lawsuit against her former band member Jackie Fox, accusing her of meddling in the production of a film biopic of the famous band. The movie, based on the story of the 1970s American all-girl rock group, is currently in production and stars Kristen Stewart. According to TMZ.com , Jett claims Fox tried to halt filming until she has seen and approved a script. Jett is insisting there is no character based on Fox in the movie, and alleges the former bass player "threatened" Jett’s business partners, claiming she has the right to be paid for the use of the Runaways name.The band was formed in 1975 by Jett and drummer Sandy West. Fox left during a 1977 tour of Japan, just before the rockers were due to appear at the Tokyo Music Festival, and was later replaced with Vicki Blue. Joan Jett Punk Rock icon Joan Jett is set to make a cameo appearance in the television show Law And Order: Criminal Intent. The wild singer is currently in New York City to shoot the episode, in which she will play a "boss from hell" who is murdered, with her personal assistant the prime suspect, reports the New York Post .
