Howard K. Stern Howard K. Stern is marking the anniversary of Anna Nicole Smith's death, by creating a charity in her name. Stern released a statement today, one year after Smith was found dead in her Florida hotel room, after overdosing on drugs. He is appealing for donations to the Anna Nicole and Daniel Wayne Smith Charitable Foundation, which also remembers the star’s son, who died aged 20 in September 2006, in a hospital room visiting his mother. Stern writes, "Today is extremely difficult for those of us who were close to Anna Nicole. In memory of Anna Nicole and her son Daniel, we have created the Anna Nicole and Daniel Wayne Smith Charitable Foundation. It will benefit charitable causes that Anna Nicole supported during her life: children, the elderly, and the treatment and cure of AIDS."Hopefully it will grow, help more people each year, and eventually be headed by her daughter Dannielynn. Her two personal diaries that most would think were worth big bucks, in Texas on Saturday. The journals, written in the early ’90s, initially had at least two bidders before Smith’s former partner, Howard K. Stern claimed they were stolen and should be returned to her estate. "Make no mistake: these items were stolen from Ms. Smith by one or more thieves," attorney, L. Lin Wood, wrote in a letter to Doug Norwine, the director of music and entertainment memorabilia at Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas on Wednesday, TMZ.com reported.
