Carly Simon Singing legend Carly Simon has ended nearly 40 years of speculation by finally naming the man who inspired her hit "You're So Vain". She is now saying it was record label boss David Geffen. The song was rumored to be about one of her ex-boyfriends, which included Hollywood legend Warren Beatty and Rolling Stones Mick Jagger, but she has persistently refused to name the man behind the famous track. But now Simon is revealing who was so vain by giving fans a cryptic clue in an acoustic version of the song, which features on her upcoming album "Never Been Gone." She told Uncut magazine, "You know what, I'm just going to tell you this. The answer is on the new version of 'You're So Vain,' on my new record 'Never Been Gone.' Singing icon Carly Simon refuses to dwell on her cancer battle that cost her a breast ten years ago, insisting it had served its use.The 70's singing legend won her cancer battle but lost her left breast, and now is claiming she was destined to give it up. Simon underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery for breast cancer in October 1997. She tells USA Today newspaper, "That was a metaphor for a couple of things.One is that I breast-fed (son) Ben for three-and-a-half years, so I gave away all my milk."There was no need for that (breast) anymore." Simon also maintains that past heartbreaks weakened that area of her body.

Stevens, who changed his name to Yusaf Islam when he converted to the Muslim faith in 1977, called Simon, 62, to wish her a happy birthday, but gave her his newly adopted title. She recalls, "The voice said, ‘Hello, Carly, this is Yusef Islam.’ And I said, ‘I’m sorry, I don’t know anyone by that name’ and hung up."He called back and said the same thing, so I hung up again. Later in the day, he called again and this time he relinquished his name and said, ‘Carly, it’s Cat Stevens.’ And I said, ‘Oh, it’s you, I love you!’"

Simon, 62, recalls, "(Bianca) said to him, ‘You know, my husband and your fiancee are having an affair,’ and James said, ‘That’s not true’ - he totally defended me."(But) there’s nothing that gets men so crazy as other men pursuing their women.
