The man who reassured and guided the nation during the tumultuous 1960s and '70s and who was still regarded as "the most trusted man in America", passed away today after a long illness. As anchor and managing editor of the "CBS Evening News" from 1962 to 1981, Cronkite's helped television the television news programs come of age. He was one of the most respected and recognizable news figure of his time. "Walter was truly the father of television news," Morley Safer, a correspondent for CBS' " 60 Minutes," said in a statement. This party was star studded with the who's who of Hollywood history. Angela Lansbury, Bruce Vilanch, former NY Governor Mario Coumo and wife Matilda. Talk show icon Joe Franklin dropped by to wish his best. CBS legend Walter Cronkite was there along with my friend for many years Honeymooner Joyce Randolph who played Trixie. Joyce and I had lunch together and caught up on some hot gossip on many people we know. Celeste looked wonderful, like Cinderella.
