Sean Penn Smokes On Late Show With Stephen Colbert PEOPLE -- Sean Penn made a memorable late-night appearance on Monday night. The actor smoked not one, but two cigarettes during his Late Show with Stephen Colbert interview, and admitted to host Stephen Colbert that he took a sedative before. “I’m doing well. You’ve inherited a little of the Ambien I had to take to get to sleep after a red-eye last night,” Penn said at the start of his sit-down.

Sean Penn Loser Sean Penn has been charged with criminal battery and vandalism following a bad run-in with a celebrity snapper. The actor was captured on a video attacking the unnamed paparazzo, who was following him in Brentwood, California in October 2009. It was later broadcast on the website TMZ.com. During the fight, the photographers camera was damaged. Penn was officially charged with the two misdemeanor counts on Friday. He faces 18 months behind bars if convicted. Madonna was rumored to have revived her relationship with Penn, who she married in 1985, after they were seen chatting over a meal at Adour restaurant in the city on Thursday. But the Material Girls publicist is insisting it was a chance meeting between former lovers - and not a date at all. Rosenberg says, "Madonna was at the St. Regis having dinner with friends. Penn took exception when the paparazzo refused to leave him alone after he had eaten lunch in Brentwood California. Paparazzi hater Sean Penn has joined the acting unions war in Hollywood and is urging his fellow Screen Actors Guild members not to vote for a new deal proposed by the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). Penn's thoughts about the deal - aimed at avoiding a summer strike, were sent in email form to all 44,000 SAG members on Thursday, after Penn had recorded a 30-second phone message, which hit union members earlier this week. Penn’s message comes as SAG members choose whether or not accept the AFTRA deal proposal in a vote on Tuesday. The Mystic River star married Wright in 1996 and they have two children together: Dylan Frances, 16, and Hopper Jack, 14. Penn began dating Wright in the early 1990s and they starred onscreen together in the 1997 movie She’s So Lovely and Hurlyburly the following year. It is the second divorce for Penn, who was married to pop icon Madonna in 1989 after four years together.

Sean Penn is set to play the first openly gay US politician in a new movie.The 'Mystic River' actor is being lined up for the role of Harvey Milk in director Gus Van Sant's thriller, set in the 1970s.Matt Damon is in talks to portray Dan White, the man who assassinated Milk.White shot San Francisco city supervisor Milk and the city's Mayor, George Moscone, in 1978. Asshole Sean Penn lit up during a press conference for his new film, "All the King's Men," at the downtown Toronto Sutton Place Hotel. That was in violation of the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, which bans smoking in all enclosed spaces that are open to the public. Christopher Ashby, spokesman for the Sutton Place, confirmed on Friday that the hotel has been slapped with fines for allowing Penn to smoke. The standard penalties would be C$605 ($540). Asked why hotel staff did not inform Penn of the no-smoking rules, Ashby said: "It was a private event. Our staff were not present in the room and therefore we couldn't intervene because we weren't present." Penn himself is escaping the incident with a slap on the wrist in the form a sternly worded letter from Toronto public health officials. THEY SHOULD HAVE FINED HIM FOR BEING SO UGLY TOO !
