MADONNA NOW RESTING IN THE HAMPTON'S

Pop singing superstar Madonna has been diagnosed with anemia and ordered to take a break from rehearsals for her forthcoming tour, according to media reports. The singing fitness fanatic has been working out to a demanding schedule ahead of her Sticky & Sweet Tour, which kicks off next month. But the British newspaper The Sun claims the 49-year-old is now resting on doctor's orders, after medics found she was suffering anemia, which causes a lack of oxygen in the organs. The newspaper reports that the star is also suffering a knee injury and is recuperating in the Hampton's. A source tells the publication, "Madonna is doing less than OK. She has been rehearsing for the tour and she is totally miserable. She's down physically and mentally. "Madonna was told to go soft on work and rehearsals, so she will now take one proper day off every week and go easy in the mornings. "She has a blood analysis done every few days, including one during last Friday's rehearsal in front of everyone."

BATMAN STAR DENIES ASSAULT CHARGES

Hollywood star Christian Bale is denying assaulting his mother and sister after he was released from police custody today. The Batman actor is alleged to have attacked his mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Sunday night. In a statement issued shortly after Bale’s release, a spokesperson for the star says: "Christian Bale attended a London police station today on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister."Mr. Bale, who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale." The actor’s arrest came only hours after he attended the European premiere of Batman inn London. According to reports, authorities did not attempt to arrest the star until after the high-profile event because they were certain Bale would not flee the country to resist arrest, adding that the lack of severity in the case did not warrant an immediate response.The actor has reportedly been ordered by police to make a court appearance in September.

Famed television funny woman Estelle Getty, who spent 40 years as an actress, before landing a role of Sophia on TV's "The Golden Girls," has died. She was 84 years old. Getty, who suffered from advanced dementia, died at about 5:30 a.m. Today at her Hollywood Boulevard home, said her son, Carl Gettleman of Santa Monica California."She was loved throughout the world in six continents, and if they loved sitcoms in Antarctica she would have been loved on seven continents," her son said. "She was one of the most talented comedic actresses who ever lived." "The Golden Girls," featuring four female retirees sharing a house in Miami, grew out of NBC programming chief Brandon Tartikoff's belief that television was ignoring its older viewers.Three of its stars had already appeared in previous series: Bea Arthur in "Maude," Betty White in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and Rue McClanahan in "Mama's Family." The last character to be cast was Sophia Petrillo, the feisty 80-something mother of Arthur's character. She will be missed.

Hollywood star Maggie Gyllenhaal had to limp down the red carpet in New York City, at Monday’s Batman premiere, after breaking her toe. Maggie,who stars opposite Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, suffered the fracture after slamming her foot against some furniture in her home. She blames the accident on her nerves ahead of the film’s big release, telling television talk show host David Letterman on Wednesday, "I’m like this indie actress, and I have this big movie, and all of a sudden I have a broken toe. I think it was because I was nervous about all this stuff. This big, huge movie all of a sudden, and I just walked across the room and I broke my toe." But the star reveals she was too stunned to feel any pain from the break, saying: "I guess it hurt. My boyfriend (actor Peter Sarsgaard) was impressed with how broken it was."

SIGOURNEY WEAVER SAD BY MOMS DEATH

Hollywood star Sigourney Weaver was very heartbroken as she watched her loved mother die because the couple had just reconciled after an estranged relationship for years. The actress admits she had a "difficult relationship" with her mother, Elizabeth, who passed away last year of natural causes at the age of 94. But in the final five years of her mother’s life they had made peace, and Weaver even held her mother’s hand as she died.Weaver recalls, "I was with her when she died, she’d had a tough couple of years. She was 94 and, luckily, I had been able to spend quite a bit of time with her."She had a very peaceful end, I was holding her hand. She had really lived her life. I miss her but I feel she is still with me."

MADONNA DEVASTATED FROM TELL ALL BOOK

Pop superstar Madonna is devastated that her brother Christopher Ciccone has written a tell-all book about her personal life, according to the singers estranged sibling. Madonna was so upset after learning last month that her younger brother was to publish the explosive book, Life With My Sister Madonna, that she reached out to her father for some comfort. Speaking on U.K. TV show GMTV today, Ciccone revealed: "We do still email but we haven’t spoken (since the book was published). "I did send her an email a week before it came out. She was very upset and expressed it to our dad, but not to me. I did send an email saying ‘I love you and I would never do anything to intentionally hurt you’." But the 47-year-old insists he has no regrets over publishing the autobiography: "I had to write it. No matter how you look at it, it’s about me and my perspective. I don’t consider it a betrayal at all. It’s an honorable representation of our lives… I hope we can be friends again."
