WANDA SYKES FULFIL'S HER LIFELONG DREAM
Wanda Sykes On Wendy Williams
Wendy Williams helped the hilarious Wanda Sykes fulfil a lifelong ambition on the eve of her 50th birthday the other day. The star wanted to perform as a backup singer. The pair glammed up in gold sequins and crooned along to the hit R&B song "Respect".
Of her bucket list of things to accomplish before she turns the big five-oh, Wanda said, "Nothing that the military does, you know what I'm saying? That's where I draw the line. I'm past the age, I don't need to say 'wheee' anymore. I'm not jumping out of a plane, no. I don't do that. But I do want to, I love music and I would love to like, be a backup singer. I can't sing, but it would be fun!"
With her new show, "Her-larious," picked up by OWN, Wanda confirmed she isn't letting working with Oprah go to her head. "I have to remind myself that Oprah is a friend in my head. Don't get caught up. I'll go crazy. I was sitting there on new year's eve and I was like 'I wonder if we're going to go to Oprah's island this new year?' You know, I'm thinking stuff like that. No, you're not Oprah's friend! Stop. Don't get caught up."
Wanda had the audience in stitches with the rest of her response. "See, he [Tyler Perry] has an island too. I don't have a damn island. All I got is in my kitchen. That's it. I got a kitchen island. Well, if Oprah and Tyler want to come hang out around my kitchen island, they are welcome to do that," she joked.
