JEAN SHAFIROFF TO ATTEND THATCHER FUNERAL

A select group of Americans will attend Lady Margaret Thatcher's invitation-only funeral at St. Paul's Cathedral on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. The funeral will be preceded by a Guildhall lunch and will be followed by a Thursday, April 18 breakfast at the Chelsea Royal Hospital, Lady Thatcher's final resting place.
Among the members of New York society paying their respects are philanthropist Jean Shafiroff; Scott Elkins, Margaret Thatcher Foundation and Chelsea Royal Hospital Advisor; Charles Myers, Senior Managing Director Evercore Partners; Jane Siebels, Founder & CEO, Green Cay Asset Management and Trustee, John Templeton Foundation; Frank E. Holmes, Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer, U.S. Global Investors; and members of the Singer and Petrie families. The Thatcher family, Queen Elizabeth, current UK Prime Minister David Cameron, and former UK Prime Ministers will be in attendance.
Margaret Thatcher, the first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, won three general elections and served as PM from 1979 to 1990. Following years of declining health she passed away on April 8, 2013 at the age of eighty-seven.
Jean Shafiroff is a prominent New York philanthropist who actively and passionately volunteers her leadership skills to several New York City and Southampton charitable causes. Jean’s managerial skills, compassion, generosity and enthusiastic dedication are among her strongest traits—as is her ability to genuinely connect with the people and places that she is helping.
