BRING LEONARD PELTIER HOME CONCERT 2012
Jackson Browne
Harry Belafonte and Pete Seeger will co-host the BRING LEONARD PELTIER HOME 2012 CONCERT, an all-star evening of music and learning featuring performers Jackson Browne, Bruce Cockburn, Common, and Native American singers Bill Miller, and Jennifer Kreisberg, and others, plus notable speakers including Danny Glover, Peter Coyote, Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, and just added, Michael Moore. This star-studded, multicultural event aims to raise awareness about the 37-year ordeal of Native American activist Leonard Peltier and his plea for clemency. Peltier, a six-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, has been imprisoned since the mid Seventies for his involvement in controversial incidents at Wounded Knee and Oglala, South Dakota. Robert Redford's 1992 documentary Incident at Oglala tells Peltier’s story. The concert is Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com and by calling 866-858-0008.
The following morning, a number of the participants – including Pete Seeger, Bruce Cockburn, tribal leaders of the Oglala Sioux Nation, human rights leaders, civil rights activists and expert lawyers - will gather for a Press Conference to examine the wrongful incarceration and discuss the current plea for clemency and its urgency, while sharing the latest updates on one of the most controversial cases in modern American History.
