This week’s issue of Us Weekly is all about Katie Holmes taking charge of daughter Suri Cruise with a new school, stricter rules, and a chance to make friends. She’s determined to give Suri a normal childhood! Details are also included on what Katie told Suri about Tom and the divorce. Insiders say Holmes, 33, was driven to file for divorce — and demand full custody — from husband Tom Cruise, 50, because she’s on a mission to take control of Suri’s upbringing. For years, the precocious tot had been raised under the discipline-free guidelines of Scientology. “Tom would let Suri do whatever she wanted,” says a Holmes source. Add an unlimited clothing and toy budget — her dad is worth an estimated $250 million, after all — and the world-famous 6-year-old “had become very demanding and bratty,” says the insider. “Katie saw that Suri was growing into a monster.” Now the Toledo, Ohio, native is determined to be more than just her daughter’s best friend.
Suri had been instructed by a series of Scientology-approved teachers, just like her half siblings, Connor, 17, and Isabella, 19, were. “But Katie didn’t want that life for her daughter,” says a source close to the former Dawson’s Creek star. “She didn’t want Suri to have a Scientology-only education.” Her choice: Manhattan’s prestigious Convent of the Sacred Heart, which boasts such notable alumni as Lady Gaga, Nicky Hilton and Caroline Kennedy.
“Suri is used to Tom being away for work, so this is nothing new,” says the Holmes insider. “Katie has delicately told her that Mommy and Daddy will spend time apart, but Suri will still see him. She’s trying to let her adjust to this easily.”

Janet Jackson, 46, is “furious” that her late brother Michael Jackson’s daughter, 14, accepted a role in the 2014 film Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys, says a source. “She feels it goes against Michael’s wishes to keep his kids out of the limelight until age 18,” adds the insider. “Janet thinks Paris should enjoy being a kid and possibly go to college.” But the teen “is hoping for more roles,” says the source. “It’s a huge dispute!”

LAUREN CONRAD and her boyfriend, William Tell, jetted to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on July 10 for five days of R&R: rest and romance. “It was just the two of them,” says a source of the couple of five months, who luxuriated in a $1,500-a-night suite (with a private hot tub!) at the Esperanza resort. “And they spent a lot of time in their room!” The fashion designer, 26, and the University of Southern California law student, 32, usually emerged in the late afternoon for pool time. “Most other guests were inside since the sun wasn’t too strong, so it was like they had the whole place to themselves,” continues the source. Besides, her man seems to be all Conrad needs, says a pal: “She thinks he’s The One.” Tell looked smitten, too, during a sweet sunset swim on their last day in Cabo. “They watched the sun go down from the edge of the infinity pool,” says the source. “William was behind Lauren with his arms wrapped around her. They looked just blissful.”

Um, third time’s the charm? Hot Stuff has learned trainer Jillian Michaels, 38, is angling to rejoin The Biggest Loser after exiting the show in 2006 and again in 2010. The mother (with partner Heidi Rhoades) to Lukensia, 2, and Phoenix, 2 months, took a job on daytime’s The Doctors because “she thought the schedule would be better for starting a family, but it was a bad fit and she left,” says a source. “She sees the sweet gig she had on Loser!”
