GETTING THE BUSINESS ON GREAT WHITE WAY

Rachel Reiner Productions presents the World Premiere of GETTING THE BUSINESS written by Victor L. Cahn and directed by Adam Fitzgerald. GETTING THE BUSINESS will begin performances on Friday, August 10 and will open Monday, August 13 running through September 1, 2012 at Theatre Row’s Clurman Theatre.



Men, women, and office politics, GETTING THE BUSINESS is a farce noir which follows an executive (Cahn) with more than work on his mind and his new “enthusiastic” assistant (O’Connor) who gradually reveals an agenda of her own. GETTING THE BUSINESS stars Victor L. Cahn and Award –winning actress Susan Louise O’Connor.

VICTOR L. CAHN has written numerous plays, including several produced Off-Broadway as well as regionally: Roses in December; Embraceable Me; Fit to Kill (all published by Samuel French); Dally with the Devil; Sheepskin/Bottom of the Ninth; and Sherlock Solo, a one-man show that he performs. He has also taken leading roles in plays by Shakespeare, Pinter, Coward, Simon, Gurney, and Knott. He is Professor of English at Skidmore College, and the author of five books on Shakespeare; critical volumes on Tom Stoppard and Harold Pinter; Conquering College: A Guide for Undergraduates; the memoir Classroom Virtuoso; and two novels, Romantic Trapezoid and Sound Bites. His articles and reviews have appeared in such varied publications as The New York Times, The Literary Review, Modern Drama, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and Variety. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild, Inc.




SUSAN LOUISE O'CONNOR appeared on Broadway in Blithe Spirit. For her performance as Edith, the crafty maid, O’Connor was the recipient of a Theatre World Award, the Dorothy Loudon Broadway Debut Fellowship winner, and received an Outer Critics Circle Nomination. Her Off Broadway credits include: Escape, Desperate Writers, Paper Cranes, Vigil or the Guided Cradle, Children at Play, Apostasy & Marion Bridge, What to Do When You Hate All Your Friends, Walk Two Moons, Never Swim Alone, See Bob Run, St. Scarlet, Susan Gets Some Play, Mail Order Bride and Nerve. Regional credits include work at: Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Huntington Theatre, Barrington Stage, Premiere Stages, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, The New Theatre & Portland Stage. Winner of the NYC Fringe Festival's best actor award for the one-woman show, Take. Three-time Innovative Award nominee and winner for lead actress in Packawallop's the silent concerto. Core member of Packawallop Productions. Her film credits include: Doomsdays, Coming Up Roses, Flying Scissors, Acts of Worship, The Poets, The Day My Towers Fell, The Moment, The Question & Parallel Passage. Television: Boardwalk Empire, Law & Order: Criminal Intent & Nate the Great.





ADAM FITZGERALD (Director) is the Artistic Director of kef theatrical productions, where he recently directed Killing Women and Lyric is Waiting. Adam was the 2008-09 Directing Resident at Playwrights Horizons assisting Wilson Milam, Bartlett Sher and Kate Whoriskey on plays by Nicky Silver (Three Changes with Maura Tierney), Craig Lucas (Prayer for my Enemy with Victoria Clark and Jonathan Groff) and Christina Anderson (Inked Baby with LaChanze) and served as the 2007-08 Artistic Associate at Playhouse West (where his production of Defiance garnered Critics Circle nominations for Director and Production). Adam recently directed Michael I Walker’s Letter From Algeria at the Abingdon (with Ground Up Productions), Marc Castle’s Friends and Relations (at the Abingdon Theatre Complex) and the 92YTribeca concert of Carner and Gregor’s song cycle, Island Song. Projects in development include Don Creedon's The Lobby with producer Ellen Cohn and Jim Bredeson's Even for One Night (the life, music and words of Michael Callen).
