The Young Woman's Leadership With High VoltageDuring the 2011-12 school year, ENERGY UP!, The Young Women’s Leadership School of Astoria (TYWLS), and The NYC Department of Education School Food Program began working to create NYC's first sugar-free school. Their mission is simple – To eliminate all products with added sugar. ENERGY UP! offers inspirational, educational events that educate and inform students, their families, faculty and staff about working harder towards a sugar-free lifestyle.
These programs includes:
. ENERGY UP! parent and daughter program
. Cafeteria takeovers and themed lunches
. Sugar-free pledge sign-ups
. "Watts up Doc" with ENERGY UP! Doctors and more!
This week in conjunction with St. Patrick’s Day, ENERGY UP! took over the cafeteria at TYWLS of Astoria with their "All Green Lunch Hours.” The event featured healthy salads, veggies, snacks, and OmegaWater™ the zero calorie, zero sugar beverage that has 100mg of Omega 3 and comes in four delicious fruity flavors.
Throughout the day, ENERGY UP! showcased the newly improved salad bar and the new sugar-free salad dressings available to students in the cafeteria. Kathie Dolgin (aka High Voltage), the founder of ENERGY UP! led the girls in ENERGY UP!
Shamrockin' Workouts feature “Leprechaun Lunges” to keep the girls feeling fit, fab and fierce during each lunch period. OmegaWater™ was to show the students, staff, and teachers a great sugar-free alternative to soda.
“We are so excited to be working with a company like OmegaWater,” said High Voltage. “Their philosophy, their team, and their product are all right in-line with everything that Energy Up! stands for. We love them and thank them for their support! Energy Up! WOOOO!”
Voltage continued, "The most inspiring moments hands down is every time one of our girl's come up to me to tell me how Energy Up has changed their life or when they will say they tasted something unhealthy that they use to love and it tastes "nasty" now! When i see their eyes light up talking about what Energy Up means to them.....and when I hear them yell, “Energy Up WHOOO!” from their heart and soul, I live for those moments."
