MONKEES WILL PLAY WESTBURY NEW YORK

**** THE WEB GOSSIP **** James Franco OSCAR DOO DABS- So, what did you think of the other night’s Oscar telecast? First: Franco and Hathaway: I've not been a huge fan of Franco ; I think he’s too overexposed, and last night, he looked downright stiff and snarky … many said baked too! Hathaway, on the other hand, was terrific; eight dress changes too! I've not been a fan of everything she’s been in, but I caught last year’s Love And other Drugs and thought she was just sensational. her singing was amazing too. The opening sequence of the show was to me, essentially a re-booted version of what Billy Crystal’s done for years. Funny, yes. Original, no. In fact, when Crystal himself showed up later on in the show, it was a much welcomed relief. The audience jumped to their feet and gave him quite the reception. I immediately thought at that point, he could be seriously considered as next year’s host. First presenter up was Tom Hanks who again proved himself at the consummate profe...

JUSTICE KATHY POSNER ON CLARENCE THOMAS

Image
**** THE CHICAGO GOSSIP **** Justice Kathy Posner Last week, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas reached a milestone five-year mark of not asking a single question during the Court’s oral hearings. According to a story filed by the Tribune’s Washington Bureau, “When asked to explain his silence, Thomas has said the oral arguments are unnecessary to deciding the cases, and perhaps even a sideshow. The justices rely on the written briefs and the lower-court opinions in making their decisions, he says. He has also suggested that more of his colleagues should follow his example, rather than interrupt the lawyers who are making their arguments.” A bit contrary to what the Court procedures are. (For those who like getting their news from less substantial sources than the Tribune, Stephen Colbert had his own take on the anniversary. According to the Supreme Court web site , during the proceedings, “An attorney for each side of a case will have an opportunity to make a presentation to the Co...

Image
Model In Christopher Fischer Cashmere Collection Christopher Fischer premiered his 2011 Women’s Fall/Winter Collection to fashion insiders, receiving praise for his unique approach to his luxury lifestyle brand. The collection was presented in an exclusive booth designed by Christopher, using salvaged timbers and old factory stools to create the tables and chairs for the show. Rich in both texture and color, the collection is inspired by classic Scottish tweed and marled yarns that have been reinvented in pure cashmere. Highlights of the collection included chunky and oversized knitwear with fastenings and large sized snaps and buttons, influenced by handbag buckles and leather straps, as well as longer and leaner to-the-body pieces that emphasize length and fit.
