"BEAR CITY"

Gerald McCullouch's Performance Is Riveting!

We got a last minute e-mail from our good friend, CSI star Gerald McCullouch yesterday to come to his movie "Bear City" that was opening at the Quad Cinema in New York City last night. We thought it was quite funny that Gerald would play a bear, as we never looked at him this way. My definition of a bear in gay culture has always been a slightly overweight hairy man and there is no way Gerald matches this description, except he has a slight beard, which I always wish he would shave. But as I arrived at the famed movie house, I had to laugh. There were lines down the street of Gay Bears. It seems every bear in the Big Apple had to see this movie.

As I was waiting outside for my CSI Bear McCullouch, Village People legend Randy Jones arrived with Will Grega to catch the movie and all the memories the flick is sure to bring back to any gay man. I must say, Gerald McCullouch's performance is riveting. McCullouch will make you laugh and cry all in the same performance. His acting skills are top notch as he will take you through happiness and sadness all in the same scene.

"Bear City" has been selling out at festivals across the world and has become a festival favorite winning awards at OutFest and in Oslo, Norway. Variety called Gerald McCullouch "charming in the movie" and The NY Times said he was "rugged, randy and assured" It plays at The Quad thru Thursday Oct. 28th.

ABOUT BEAR CITY

It’s summer in New York City, and the neighborhood bears are coming out of hibernation. A group of friends is getting ready for the annual week-long celebration of all things bear, but plans keep getting turned upside down. BearCity is Queer As Folk meets Sex in the City — only with more hair and tons of hot bear-on-bear action!

Closet cub Tyler fantasizes about stuffing Santa’s stocking and finding a Daddy bear to do more than cuddle. But as he dives into the bear community, he finds that it can be hard for a hairless guy to get some fuzzy loving. Scene stealer's Brent and Fred are the maybe-not-so-monogamous couple who invite him to move in as they figure out how to spice things up.

Southern bear-belle Michael struggles to juggle his lover, his job search and his body image issues, but an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction might solve all three. Rakish Roger is the stud-about-town, and he’ll pretty much bang (on screen) anyone with facial hair. That is, until an awesomely awkward encounter at the local bowling alley challenges both his bowling prowess and his bear-loving mojo. Add to that some adorable eye-candy, an indispensable fairy-god-roommate, beer busts and “stroller meat,” and BearCity makes for a beartastic summertime romp.
