ANGIE BOWIE TALKS ON HER BROKEN HEART

Pop star David Bowie's ex-wife Angie, regrets giving up custody of the former couple’s son, movie maker Duncan Jones, and wishes she could now be part of his life. Angie Bowie married the singer in 1970 and they welcomed Duncan Zowie Haywood Jones a year later in 1971. They divorced in 1980 and Angie agreed to give up custody of her son and accepted $750,000 in a settlement deal. But the 61 year old Angie regrets the divorce deal, because it’s caused an irreversible rift with her son. She told Britain’s Sunday Express, "The last time I heard from him was four or five years ago by email." Angie admits watching Jones’ debut movie Moon, which won him the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer at last month’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards, "broke" her heart. She adds, "I saw the movie and it was marvellous. I love it. It’s even more exceptional when you consider that it’s his first major offering. For me it struck this chord. "I thought, ‘I should never have left him,’ but because David bad-mouthed me for years there was no way that I could have any relationship with Zowie. It broke my heart. There wasn’t anything I could do and David loved it."

Editors Note: For years I hung out with Angie Bowie. She spoke many many times of her sadness of not having any contact with her son. The sadness in her eyes when she would talk about him brought tears to my eyes. I think it is the biggest regret Angie has in her life. It was very horrible of David Bowie not to let the boys mother see her son. Alot of people in the music business would tell you that Bowie would never have had a career if it wasn't for Angie. And for a little trivia, many top music industry insiders have told me over the years that the famed Rolling Stones song Angie, was all about Angie Bowie. This is a woman who loved her son, had such talent and was a moving force in making David Bowie what he was. While David Bowie has had a life of privilege, Angie has had to struggle. It is a shame that the world does not recognize that Angie Bowie is the real talent they should be paying attention too.
