It's estimated that there are 4,000 people from the United Kingdom living full-time in Las Vegas. The other night, the founders of the organization www.UKLV.org celebrated with a show and party at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino. Organized by Samantha Ratcliffe-D'Arrigo (owner of Vegas Rock Dog); Andy Walmsley and Steve Parker, (Asient Entertainment, set designers of such shows as American Idol and America's Got Talent) and photographer Steve Lee, the party began with a a show, hosted by Robin Leach, in which Zowie Bowie brought back the vintage Vegas of Steve & Eydie, Sinatra, and others. They were joined by Scotsman Domenick Allen, former lead singer of Foreigner, who attended the event with his wife, Broadway star Leigh Zimmerman. He brought a pair of shoes onstage which, he explained before singing Come Back To Me, belonged to Sammy Davis, Jr. The event was rounded out by a bagpipe and drum unit and, at the end of the show, an audience participation version of, as Zowie Bowie said, "That great English song we all know by that singer from Wales," Delilah. The bagpipe band led the 600 or so attendees out of the theater, through the casino and into The Pub in the Monte Carlo where appropriate British fare — Guinness and Indian food — was served.
