BOY GEORGE TOO FAT TO ATTACK MODEL

Former Culture Club singer Boy George was too fat to have attacked a male model at his London home, according to the former star's lawyer. The singer is accused of chaining male escort Audun Carlsen to a hook in a bedroom at his east London apartment after suspecting him of tampering with his computer. But O'Dowd's barrister, Adrian Waterman, told jurors at London's Snaresbrook Crown Court yesterday, that the singer would not have been able to overpower Carlsen, as he is not as fit as he was during his pop heyday. Waterman told the court, "With the greatest of respect to George O'Dowd, he is not someone you could describe as terribly fit. He has put on a few pounds since the 1980s. He's not going to be a match for Audun Carlsen." In his closing speech Waterman stated George admitted handcuffing Norwegian Carlsen, but claimed the singer did not break the law, because he believed the model had hacked into his computer. Waterman added, "There has never been any doubt that George O'Dowd did handcuff Audun Carlsen to that eyehole. He did imprison him, he detained him. The issue in the case is whether in law he has a lawful excuse." And the QC also accused Carlsen's evidence of being unreliable, telling jurors, "I respectfully suggest you wouldn't want to rely upon him." O'Dowd denies one charge of false imprisonment. The trial continues.
