Beatle Paul McCartney can now add doctor to his resume, after receiving an honorary degree from one of America’s oldest and most iconic universities.The singing icon was presented with the Doctor of Music accolade by top staff at Connecticut’s Yale University, the third oldest education institution in the United States, on Monday, in acknowledgement of his musical achievements to date in his 48-year career.In the award ceremony, university leaders credited McCartney with having "awakened a generation, giving a fresh sound to rock, roll, rhythm and blues".Others who have conferred honorary degrees from the university include British astronomer Martin Rees, Argentine architect Cesar Pelli and American poet John Lawrence Ashbery.
