CARLY SIMON ON HER BREAST CANCER

Singing icon Carly Simon refuses to dwell on her cancer battle that cost her a breast ten years ago, insisting it had served its use.The 70's singing legend won her cancer battle but lost her left breast, and now is claiming she was destined to give it up. Simon underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery for breast cancer in October 1997. She tells USA Today newspaper, "That was a metaphor for a couple of things. One is that I breast-fed (son) Ben for three-and-a-half years, so I gave away all my milk."There was no need for that (breast) anymore." Simon also maintains that past heartbreaks weakened that area of her body.
