THE NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT LEAVES TIMES SQUARE OPEN TO TERRORISM

The Bomb Squad Looks At Damage

A small bomb caused a little damage to an empty military recruiting station in Times Square New York City early this morning. Since we live and work in Times Square, we just happened to be up when the incident occurred. The blast, which happened around 3:45 a.m., left a gaping hole in the front window and shattered a glass door, twisting and blackening its metal frame. No one was hurt. But Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the device, though unsophisticated, could have caused "injury and even death."A witness saw a person on a bicycle wearing a backpack and a hood and acting suspiciously, but no one saw the device being placed in front of the recruiting center, authorities said at a news conference."If it is something that's directed toward American troops then it's something that's taken very seriously and is pretty unfortunate," said Army Capt. Charlie Jaquillard, who is the commander of Army recruiting in Manhattan. He said no one was inside the station, where the Marines, Air Force and Navy also recruit.

Editors Note: The New York City Police Department needs to get their act together. They are always practicing disaster drills where they fly around Times Square with 10-20 police cars then they neatly park in the Center Of The Universe and set up a command center. Now I wonder, if a disaster really happened in Times Square, does anyone in their right mind think police cars could even get through, yet alone set up a command post? These drills are a waste of time. They should be practicing getting people out of Times Square and also the subways below. Another stupid thing the city has done was to allow metered parking around Times Square and that includes one Times Square where the ball drops. Can't anyone just park a car bomb and leave? Wouldn't One Times Square be the perfect target? Why they would allow parking there is just stupidity. There are also hundreds of cops walking around Times Square day and night, but when you see them, they aren't paying attention to much of anything because they are always talking on their cell phones. It's time the city made the Police Department do their job right and concentrate on doing their job. Police officers should be banned from talking on their cell phones while on duty. All parking in Times Square should be banned and this includes the police who park their personal vehicles. The police park their personal cars everywhere and they put a police card in their window and do not get ticketed. They should be made to park just like everyone else. Every time you make a complaint to the Police Department, they cry they are trying to prevent terrorism. The quality of life sucks in Times square and it's because the Police Department will not do their job !

Maybe, they are no longer concerned with terrorism? Sounds more like a Chinese fire drill! Of all places, one would think New York would have beefed up their security...
