BRITNEY SPEARS TOPPING BILLBOARD CHART
Britney Spears' new LP 'Blackout' is set to debut at number one in the US Billboard album charts.The 'Gimme More' singer's latest studio effort sold 124,000 copies on its first day of release in America on Wednesday. This is more than double the number of records Carrie Underwood's current chart-topping album 'Carnival Ride' sold on its release day, managing just 49,000 sales. 'Blackout' is already at number one in the iTunes download chart. Britney's label, Jive/Zomba, has estimated the album will sell between 330,000 and 350,000 copies Stateside in its first week, which should give Britney the coveted top spot with ease.The troubled star revealed she celebrated the release of 'Blackout' - her first studio album since 2003 - with an evening in eating fried chicken on Tuesday night. She said: "It was kind of laid back, really. We watched a scary movie and ate fried chicken - that's about it!"The 25-year-old singer's last LP release, 'In the Zone', sold a staggering 609,000 copies in the US in its first week. If the record does take the number one position it will not be the first time Britney has achieved such success.The pop babe's last four albums all topped the prestigious Billboard album charts.
