Elton John with husband David Furnish

Sir Elton John couldn't use a washing machine until he was 43.The 'Rocket Man' singer, now 60, admits he lived such a pampered lifestyle he never had to do household chores.Elton - who has overcome cocaine addiction - told America's 'Enough Rope' TV show: "I wasn't ashamed of being a drug addict but I was ashamed to ask how to work a washing machine. I couldn't do anything for myself."The flamboyant performer wouldn't let anyone tell him what to do when he was younger because his ego was so out of control. He explained: "Because I am Elton you have to fit in with my lifestyle."However, Elton says his whole attitude changed when he met current partner David Furnish, who he married in a civil ceremony in December 2005. He revealed: "David was a grown-up and if I wanted to be in this relationship I would have to be grown-up and realise that there are two people in this relationship, not just Elton."I've come a long way... I now have a loving relationship with someone, it took me 43 years to find out how."
