Dame Shirley Bassey narrowly escaped a horrific helicopter crash last night. The 70-year-old singer's chopper developed a mechanical fault on the way from the Glastonbury Festival to London and came within inches of hitting pylons and wires before making an emergency landing.The helicopter eventually touched down at 8pm in the grounds of Collingwood College in Camberley, Surrey, after horrified onlookers watched it sway over residential houses in dense fog and torrential rain.When she emerged, Bassey told shocked locals: "We are so sorry to have bothered you. May I please use someone's toilet? And a cup of tea would go down a treat."Kind-hearted residents happily opened their homes to shelter the music legend and the five crew members.The helicopter pilot said: "I was losing power and the mist was so thick I couldn't see where I was going. We have had an almighty escape."Earlier, Bassey wowed Glastonbury fans with an incredible set which featured several of her classic hits including 'Big Spender', 'Get The Party Started', 'Goldfinger' and a cover of The Doors song 'Light My Fire'.
