ALWAYS CLASSY DICK VAN DYKE

Dick Van Dyke

Dick Van Dyke was almost turned down for his latest film role because he was too nice. The ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ star plays the bad guy in new children’s film ‘Night At The Museum’, but director Shawn Levy has revealed movie bosses were not keen on giving Van Dyke the role. Levy told BANG showbiz: “A lot of people were against Dick playing the part because he is the pinnacle of family films and he always plays the good guy.“But Dick actually turned up to audition for the part himself.“I though it was amazing that such a legend would actually audition properly.“It’s so sad these days that so many young actors refuse to audition. They say to me ‘Didn’t you see my role in ‘Smallville’? I don’t read.’“Young people are so arrogant. So many no bodies refuse to audition.“But Dick did. And I was delighted to have him in the movie.”
