**** THE HAMPTON'S **** Flying Point Beach Sag Harbor artist and resident, Ted Asnis, is currently debuting a new series of paintings at Bobby Van's Steakhouse in Bridgehampton. The exhibition, Ted Asnis Abstracts, opened this month and will run through Labor Day weekend (though there is no formal opening reception). The show represents a new direction in the artist’s style. Long revered for his traditional open landscapes depicting beloved Hampton’s beach scenes and farmlands, Asnis's latest series of paintings reflect his current interest in Abstract Painting, through which he has also developed a new technique of applying rich layers of paint. The result is a captivating and refreshing series of canvases in a palette of vibrant colors that are larger in scale, commanding a greater presence and often incorporating Asnis's signature use of space, movement and perspective.

Stewart Lane A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is a Sondheim musical that tells the bawdy story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master woo the girl next door. The show is arriving at the Bay Street Theater, Long Wharf in Sag Harbor, New York. The show runs August 6 - September 1st. The musical's original 1963 Broadway run won several Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Book. A Funny Thing has enjoyed several Broadway and West End revivals and was made into a successful film starring the original lead of the musical, Zero Mostel. The show is starring Peter Scolari, Jackie Hoffman, John Conrad Schuck and featuring Stewart Lane. The book is by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, with music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
